sboardcrazy (26363km): ![]() 5kts gusting to 25 plus SSW level 0.5m Buff Pt Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU 5m Mach2- RS2 ( 90ltres) - 22cms Atomic Well as Mitch said - that was horrible.. 11 degrees with up and downwind and rain at times. Pity the rain had added another 7cms to the water level. it may have had a bit of flatter water if it was at yesterdays level. I got across to the flats and thought ' too risky overpowered in this chop..how do I get back in one piece? Luckily it died a little after. Above my paygrade for my current sailing strength and ability. I played it safe and didn't even consider gybing. Lucky Mitch came in as I was going to rig the 6.2m. I rigged the bigger board for the lulls but it was too big for the 15cms ( flat areas) chop - 30cms moguls in the channel. Maybe the 4.5m - 70ltre would have worked well in the stronger stuff. The few bearaways I tried felt suicidal for 28.8kts.. Managed to survive the sail back across the channel by luffing the sail and relying on the harness. Got my head wet when I jumped off..brr Oh well. I can still do it but I think I'll wait for some flatter water before I bother in big wind again. Or use the Windtech.. |
