Kev (1426km): ![]() Marmong Point, NSW, AU W-NW 5-25knots Mikes Lab Formula Board, 7.2m Neil Pryde H2, Axis 799. Forecast was for lighter conditions so didn't take small sails.Went small front foil and 7.2m. 5.4m would be the preferred sail. Breexe came in from NW so decided to head out with Mick. Once we got out there it was very different with gusts with big windshifts and strength varying 10=15 knots in the same gust. As Mick said there was plenty of carnage among the dinghy fleet and I did take some timeout to watch an International Canoe do a massive nosedive and catapult the driver through the air. He got up and ke Looked at coming in when Mick did as it was severe and then it died off to a manageable breeze so kept going. This repeated for a while until the sailing pulled up their bouys so headed in then. They had probably had enough of rescuing dinghys with broken gear by then. Made a few bearaway runs for speed and done 18 knots. Haven't done that this year I don't think. The wise move would be to stay on the shore but made the most of conditions nobody likes. There was a surprise visit from Eddie from Manilla who has promised to come back to sail with everyone on his next visit.
