1st sail on Lake Macquarie since March this year and 1st sail in 7 weeks.. Most people would say the conditions were crappy but I was just glad to be back on the water.
Nice low stress reintroduction to LM boatwake, chop and sharks.. Nothing like spotting a large shark crusing past to focus your gybes.. I'd muffed 3 outside ones but got the one after the shark sighting..
The gusts were often only 50m long and if I bothered to use them to get going I'd sail out the other side.
I was out for over 2hrs so I'm happy with that after so long off.. Got one lovely gybe in close .
I only got in the straps a few times. Once I was powered up I found the board felt enormous and the sail heavy and hardwork..pity I have to get back into it again with the big kit. I've lost weight c 64kgs now..
A winger went out before me and had a few runs but spent time sitting on the board and paddling it in.
Hugh went out with his 7m wing after I finished ( when it looked the best all day ) and still spent time sitting in the water with no wind.
Windsurfers are better in patchy conditions like today..
