Mungo Brush, NSW, AU. CA92, Ezzy 6.5, 35. This was a good session, despite low numbers. Mobdog didn't come thinking it would be gusty and choppy, so i was alone. It was choppy. Too much power when I went out on wingding with maiden voyage for my mongrel foil, heavily bastardised ArtPro 1051. It worked, but it wasn't the day to feel it out so one quick run only.
I headed out with the only sail and board I took, thinking for sure it would be bad, but it wasn't, I started getting comfy in it.
Usually I'm scared to use this size board but got over that a bit today and it was going heaps good. Easily getting on top of chop but chop confused and going different directions so I wasn't keen sending it. But happy to have gone more than I thought I would. Happy to have made plenty of gybes in the mess. And happy that the mongrel foil might work.

Wing no 27

13-20kts plus Valentine, NSW, AU

5m Matador - 130ltre Fone - 1800 front wing

I was aiming to have a wing and then a fin after. I was aiming for 10-15kts but it kicked in stronger pretty quickly.

Last time they predicted gusting to 27kts we got 5-12kts with 2 puffs to 13kts so I wasn't expecting it to come in. Undecided

I only had 2 runs . The 1st one I did multiple bearoffs and got up on the foil but fell off most. I ended up having to paddle into the point as I had done so many bearaways.

It was getting overpowering but I had another go. It's certainly easy to get on the foil when you are overpowered. I got one 20m foil that felt in control but I was heading into shore and had to hop off before I hit bottom. Next run i was starting to wear out and having trouble standing so I called it..

It was strong too . Some of the regulars had decided not to go out or were rigging 3m wings.

I packed away the wing gear , had lunch and rigged the 5m - 90ltre - 24cms WT weedy .

I'm not sure how to post 2 sessions in the one day?

Any hows.. I feel I wasted the nicest fin wind on the winging..Yell By the time I got on the water the 5m was miles too much. I puttered out keeping the power off . the board was too big for the ramps and I was worried about the wind getting under it. I dropped in , turned it around , waterstarted and headed in. I risked it and had one little go in a lull to get the 2 sec.. probably 18-25kts S ..rerigged the 4.5m sail but by now it was 23 - 35kts and too risky.

I went out 200m and then back in.

I hate wasting good wind. Undecided My 3.2m - 68ltre Starboard acid waveboard would have been the go at the end..

Only 2 wings out by now. too windy for most. About 5 fins..a few ok at the start but everyone bar one guy stoood it out by the end. Oh to be young again!

 Wing tracks -

Fin session -

23.61 - 16.42 - 0 hr - 7.58 alpha - 2.84nm - 2.52 distance

18-25kts then 23-35kts S Valentine, NSW, AU

 5m Gator - WT57 ( 90ltres) - 24cms WT weedy

I run depowering all except one small go.

Rigged 4.5m - 200m out and back. Too dangerous so called it. 4 of us not risking it and one guy a lot heavier than me on a 4.7m having a ball. grr . What a waste of good wind.

😁

I'm getting old Dezza..I need winging to make it easier coming back after an operation or injury. I intend to keep sailboarding. The setup I have is designed for a patchy 8 - 12kts .

I just need more wind to learn..Hopefully then I can get going in lighter winds. Smile
