Sussex Inlet, NSW, AU. Swan Lake. Introduction wing cruise.
Skywing 94ltr, 5.4, hps830 / 400. Wild Windsurfari day. Hot, cold, hot, cold goes the weather. Before i ate brekky at lake boola, i checked the forecast, and since things have developed into chasing localised wind, i’m looking at different regional forecasts and was unknowingly on the wrong page and was dismayed that there was now no wind forecast for today.
But then i put my glasses on, got on the right page and saw that a breeze of 15kts south was indeed still forecast for the area i was in.
Sweet, i’d have brekky and slowly make my way down to a spot i got hot local tip as ‘wing paradise’.
Next minute the brekky nearly blew out of my mouth as the southerly busted through way harder than 15kts. The Boolaa looked like LG when sand lifts. It was strong. Oh no, what to do.
I tightened the downhaul on my mouth to hold the brekky in as once again i became dismayed at the predicament. Way too windy for winging. But i had visions of being eaten by the Boolaa weed monster out there alone so i erred caution and hit the road.
Upon arriving at the wing lake i was happy to see the wind was dropping as quick as it came. Truly it looked like wing paradise. A few wingers allready into it.
Happy with decision. Truly that weed at Wollumboula could eat you, so thick.
Wing kit feeling better each time as i get it sorted out. Pity the wind stopped.
