Southerly 10-15 kts

JP175, SB 900.115.255, 8.0m

As Byron would say a beautiful armchair session. Enough wind for easy cruising, never a fight to get going and never overcooked.

Warm water, sunshine and wind!

A pleasant afternoon at Valentine with the wind starting great, then terrible, then good again.... With Sue and Andrew briefly. A nice way to finish the weekend.

 5kts a few short patches 8-10kts S then 7 - 12kts S for the last 20 mins. Valentine, NSW, AU

 7.5m Turbo - 125ltre Tabou Bullit - 38cms Tectonics weedy

I wanted a nice sedate re intro to LM. I haven't sailed it for 2 months due to my rib break. It was a bit TOO sedate. I stuffed around too long and the wind died as soon as I hit the water.

Plodded around for 1.30hrs top speed 10 kts. Gusts were too short to be bothered going for it. Even the LT guys were whinging and wanted more wind. The wingers were spending a lot of time in the water.

I came in for lunch and paused my watch and forgot to put it back on for a while so I missed the puff with the best speed of the day.. Wink

1st use of the new Turbo. I only stacked one gybe so it must be pretty light. The big board covers a lot of mistakes though..

I had too much downhaul on . It was the 1st time I tried to let some off standing in the water but it wouldn't work. I had to get on shore and unplug it from the board.

Once the wind came in I put the boom up a bit and less downhaul and the extra wind etc got me going.

Sorry Andrew. He came down to socialise but I was staying out to get the only wind of the day.

Lovely sunny day . The yachts who were racing were always in the wrong place grr..

Just Luke and I with a visit from Andrew who was smoking on the windfoil.

I'll be glad to have a rest tomorrow. zz

The Tabou is great at gliding but it's a beginners board and a very heavy build.

Maybe a lighter board would have got going earlier? Not worth upgrading for the amount of times I use it.

Lake St Clair

E-SE 5-12 knots

FMX 176, NP 8.2m V8, Axis 1099.

Forecast was for light winds but went out anyway. Bit of dogging as the wind filled in.

Big windshifts as breeze settled in to the South then back To East.

Wind funnels down from the big hills and changes direction every gust. As per the map.

Fast fresh water and only 3 metres walk out to the deep water.

Worth another longer trip here with a better forecast.

Good to see Mick back on the water.
