Lake Weyba, QLD, AU

What a pleasant surprise!

It felt cold in the morning but by the time l got to weiba it has become quite pleasant.

Had the best time in light medium breeze with the local gang Greg, Chris ,Ann, Peter and a few more.

Rubbish 0-5kts / 8 -12kts patches and 15kt gusts and lumpy SW then 10-20kts S Valentine, NSW, AU

7.5m Turbo- 125ltre tabou bullit - 38cms tectonics weedy

 6.5m Turbo - WT64 ( 112ltres) - 35cms Tectonics weedy

We've been spoilt with some lovely consistent S lately. I got there at midday and waited .

I was having a muffin and a b kookaburra swooped down and knocked it out of my hand . It's beak drew blood. Luckily it was after the cake and not me..

I was determined to eat the rotten thing and had to practically kick the bird to get it out of the way so I could pick it up out of the dirt.. Oh yum! Gravel texture..Undecided

The bird and I had shared some aggro as I threatened to kick it whenever it had another go..so watch out for the killer kookaburras at Valentine.UndecidedLaughing

Started 25-30kts before a rain squall then settled to 13- 18kts SSW .. I wasted the good stuff waiting as it has been coming in late .

Went out with the big kit and sailed like a gumby..Didn't help that the wind was all over the place and it was lumpy. Sw 0-15kts plus.

The best gybe I got all day was when the ferry went past. I had to look good for that..Wink

S came in at 2.30pm and it started to get scary with the big stuff so I came in and got the 6.5m - WT64 ready. 23kts top speed on the big stuff?

Only had a few runs . The gusts were scary and I was spilling wind.

It was very peaky with chop coming from Sw and S.

I had a go on the way in and it was super scary. The board was too big and I was overpowered - got the 2 sec then and decided to quit while I was in one piece. The 90 could have been ok but I'd had enough.

Roxy parawinging , Peter winging and then a whole lot of wingers late. Even the wingers were complaining about being overpowered one second and nothing the next.

The trailing cord idea doesn't work. It got wrapped around my leg waterstarting but I just ignored it and sailed on. When I went to gybe it wrapped around more and was so tight I couldn't move my feet. Took a while to untangle myself from it.. Bummer..

This pic was after I'd finished when it was pretty good.

Patrik 120, Koncept 7.5, patrik 40cm. Round 1: about 11am I went to see Golden beach for the first time. Some wings and a windsurfer was out. Dan, a 30 year break now coming back into it. Super good to go out and sail with him. Great spot to learn, bank to bank. Great spot for gybes. Wind was up and down, powered a bit more than half the time. Also Walden was rigging. Round 2: military jetty, paused the watch in between. One guy out allready, he came back in spitting fire at the lack of wind. It was quite amazing how there was wind, but then none when there was ment to be some. Lucky I took that first session. It was probably better than the second. I24kts first session and 18kt alpha soooo easy. Round two was hard work staying upwind. And varying wind. I went half way through the channel but a bit suss of I’d get back upwind again so stopped. On dusk I think I saw Matt launching from further south and out into the waves. Might try that launch tomorrow. How’d my battles with Grassy the assy dinger go? Well he took it all on, out the channel and all that, not assy, just a very good sailor and smoked me again. I’ll get him one of these days! Wasn’t powered proper again.

Eating muffins is more dangerous than sailing. Looks nice there Sue.
