VERY patchy 5- 18kts 100ms of 5 kts with patches of stronger

then Ballistic for 10 mins at the end . level 0.32-35m

5.5m Mach2 - 80 iso 16.5cms Ff - CA95 - 22cms atomic

My expectations were too high..Undecided That would have to be the worst session I've had in years.

When I got there I measured 12 - 17kts on the shore ( probably stronger in the middle) so I rigged my 15-20kt combo..as soon as I hit the water it dropped to 5-12kts . I tried for a nm but couldn't even get going. 5.5m - 80ltre

I hate trying to beachstart with muddy , weedy feet..Undecided

Off the plane I was bumping along the bottom with the 16.5cms.

I  headed down to the bottom hoping it would come in. The gusts were good on that combo, but there was too amny acres of  5kts.

Came in and  put the CA on. I've got it on loan while my 90 ltre is being fixed. Not really the day to get used to a new board. It's a lot longer and narrower than my 90. That helped subplaning, but I didn't have enough consistent wind to get upwind and I couldn't get the hang of getting the leeward rail dropped

After scraping along the bottom with the 16.5cms I just wanted to avoid the flats and get out wider but the wind wasn't consistent enough. No bearaways..

I tried one gybe powered up in the chop. I was so focused on seeing the way the board arced around etc I forgot to flip the rig..UndecidedLaughing

Decided I'd come in and put the 111ltre on with the little sail.

As soon as I got it in came in REALLY strong. I decided I'd try a nm with the small gear.. Much easier when you can waterstart in the straps and hook in as you come up.

No go. It was dangerously too strong so I pulled the plug.

I dropped it to the bottom clewhole and pulled it on.

It could have been an ok work back except I had a big wad of slippery seagrass under my back foot in the strap and the harness lines were too long to pull the sail on..Yell I wasn't game to try and fix anything.

Decided I'd had enough. I hadn't had one run, wasn't enjoying it, and was getting cold.

Byron was happily rigging down for the strong stuff.

Lucky I quit as as soon as he went out it dropped to 5 - 12kts.. I'm surprised I couldn't hear the swearing from Peely. Wink

Exercise value and socialising only ..ugh..

McKee 67 wide 120 litres . Warp 7.0 . Pepe 20 . Was good to try a new board. Very unusual shape .Felt so much different to my boards which I've been using for 8 years. Seemed very stable. Sat well on the water . Easy to gybe. Felt comfortable to send it a few times . Definitely needed more tweaking . Im sure I needed the mast track further back but all in all pretty comfy board. Maybe Mobz will.post a Pic as he tested one as well .

Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU. McKee 58w 100ltr. 5.6, 23 pepe. Jumped the gun and grabbed the faster of the sticks before Greg could.  Headed out into a lull. Pit stop for engine change during the puff. Headed back out same board with 7.5 Ezzy.
Changed to FF18 at this point. Happy sailing.
Tried again later on the 120ltr with FF18. It only spunout once coming back in the chop. Lucky as i might have hit Greg as i showboated past close whilst he swam the channel of doom 😁
Crazy story. Old mate McKee just showed up with many boards saying try please, and get on the JSW vids.
Budgy blessed to get straight out on them and find out that he is not wrong. I saw i was planing at 13kts or less once, that was different, as was all else, gybes good. Froths out the front venting tunnel like a coffee machine when slogging.
