Point Grey, WA, AU. Mad science but a bit friustrating day with a good crew. Fairly light breeze on arrival so up with the big sail.  First test of the McKee Morph board matched with an experimental supercavitating lift fin to suit the board.  Decided to test this fin first as the tide was dropping and it was a 22cm.  Plan was to switch to a normal but smaller fin after trying this out.  Also testing some new camera jigs.    First camera jig stripped the 3D printed drive gear whilst carrying the board out.  Was school boy error.  I recognised my mistake but carried on, however the angle of the dangle wasn't correct so gonna be garbage footage from that.  Got going straight away, fin and board felt fine but gybing was like someone threw an anchor.  Came in after one run to switch camera jigs to different style.  Since I knew what I'd done wrong last time didn't activate the servo till the board flat.  Of course once I had walked out I put the sail down to activated and the mast hit the waterproof grommet beaking it off the electronics case.  Now the electronics and battery would flood so back in to remove that.  Out again but forgot to put another rear camera on so back in, but the mount didn't fit as no time to test earlier.  I'd changed 360 cameras to the new one but now the new one was complaining about the SD card so any footage from the jigs wouldn't have worked anyway.   Out again and a few laps.  All good on the straights but the brakes came on during gybe.   Decided to come in and swap to a 'normal' fin and put a different SD card in.   That felt much better in the turns but only about 24kts in bear aways.    Then decided to swap boards to one of a similar volume to see if could go any faster....27kts on the iSonic97.   Then back in and see if anyone else wanted a go.   Dangermouse gave it a crack and followed him with the drone for one battery but he never got going.  The wind was pretty dismal.  The Granny was stuffed so didn't try it either and everyone else sailing.   So back out for me on the McKee.   Now the tide had dropped a almost impossible to get going due to the fin dredging...tried different mast track positions but the getting going business was tough work in the light breeze. Everyone but Dangermouse by this time had come in and called it or was coming in. So decided to come in and swap to the magic carpet machine.   That did the trick, cruised around nicely similar to yesterday.  Dangermouse wasn't going anymore so he too called it.  Just as he hit the beach the wind booted and it was on. Totallally overpowered.  Dangermouse and Boz relauched and had a ball.  Dangermouse back to his old tricks sailing over to Yunderup with the wind spinning westerly..eventually it was too much so I came in to change down.  However the breeze dropped and the others were coming in so decided to call it a day. Don;t think today was well suited to this McKee board so hard to make judgement...need more wind and water. Nice sesh at Boombas with a decent sized crew. Proper test of the new FMX 98 and it lived up to its reputation! Started out on the Falcon 118L + 7.0 Loft RB and then it picked up a bit, enough to try out the FMX. Also had a crack on Flex's loan board, the 100L McKee. Couldn't get it going due to the shallows and not enough wind so a bit hard to make any judgement. As I was just about the call it after a long walk in, the wind started to boot so headed back out with the Bozinator and Flex. Heaps of fun in the flats over in Austin bay. Good to catch up with Gloria, Maree, Decrepit and Rob (and Waricle of course!). Not long to go now Pete before you're back in action!

Melville

Warm NW with a few puffs coming through a bit more than yesterday. Was hoping wind would pick up and wanted to test the light wind ability of the 7m so...

7.0m Apache '26 Radix 128, MK3 38

Super low tide so was staying in the channel. Some puffs were coming through but very turbulent so they would be there, and then vanish without going downwind... ghost gusts. Found a nice gust out past the sand bar where I got some power but was held back by knee high washing machine. Still 35.5 on the dial and 34kt 10s, which was a knot faster than the other runs. Later the clouds looked a bit different, and the wind picked up a touch. Another 35 and then on the way out a sick gust heading to kiter land for 37.1kt 10s and max over 38. Sailed back to grab the speed board with a 26 fin to get into the flats but the wind backed off as I put the fin in, and swung WSW... and got cold... doh. Waited a while but it didn't really fill back in. So I got the Melville gust of the day.

Good to see a few others giving it a go.
