Coodanup, WA, AU. After getting skunked with Decrepit yesterday figured today was a good day for maiden voyage of the humpback experimental apparatus. Forecast was 8kts, dial was reading 7kts, perfect. On arrival slightly more water than yesterday but wind was 8kts...rigged the big sail and started mounting the new kit...this took some time and a bunch of faffying about...of course the wind during this time decided to boot to a nice 15+ kts. At this stage very tempted to kil the experiment and go with the magic carpet machine as total glass off.
However, stuck with the plan, started with the flippers fully back and mast track fully forward but the beast kept wanting to head upwind and nose dive, so back in to move flippers forwards and mast track back (not easy process) and try again...now really wanted to head upwind and still nose dive...fought it for a while but some basic issues going on so back in to change to the standard fin. Of course by the time all the bits had been removed from the board and the normal fin installed the wind had eased off...still a pleasant but short cruise in the mega weed. Entertaining day out.
