Cheesegraters paid off today and about time. Twas very square down the run and muddy but snice.

6.3 TR-4, AB+ 54 with a 26 old faithful.

First on the water so I thought I would play easy. Got a 38 first run and needed more wind. Wind came a few runs later then so did 40. Put a smile on my dial. Slowly got quicker run by run. Told the boys i had got close to 43 to try a rev them up. Think it worked. Snides came in with a big grin joinin the 40 club then Adso. Tried my best to fire up Hardie. So thought i would dig out the speed board. Second run got a huge gust and thought just give it shit. Everything went pair shape so quick , My worst stack ever. Snapped maui sails carbon boom in half both sides. Mast an sail all good. Me has sore neck an busted knee. Off to the doctors.Well Done to every one who sailed there today. Fun times in muddy conditions

GT-31 Display 38.11, wind square 18 to 33kts,(Some Gusts would've been 35 to 40kts), F2 Missile S Gaastra Vapor 5m 22cm Weed.  Lotta fun, totally intimidated by the strong winds, there was 40 for the taking today, I just didn't have the cohunas to bear off!!!!!  But ya gotta be happy had multiple runs in the 37's!!!

I was not going to post my data as I feel a shame been the snail today Embarassed, at least I can contribute for the NM! My Alpha is quite impressif Tongue out

mmmh faaaarke!! Yell I have not work for months or sail for a month, and today the DAY, someone managed to put a medical on perfect timing with the wind so I missed out on the NW Yell...  I got @ Creepy Crawly just as the wind swinged west aaaaaarrrg! I end up going to hardies , a bit scared as the wind was quite strong and on my own sailing offshore on very choppy water! mmmh I tried to find some flat near the shore anywhere but wasn't. The run was from the jetty staight to the point

Well at least I got a sail on 5m and try a new made fin which worked perfect

Well done Crash Cool

JP Slalom IV 74L, NP RSR 5.8m, Choco Mach 1 28cm, KenElmo Weed 24cm.

Following Ben's spray on Cheese Graters last night I'd pretty much flagged going down (yes I know I swore never to go there again), got up this morning and Bunbury had 19-31knots at 6am, the barometric pressure for both Bunghole and Mandurah had gone sub 1000HPa so I thought it might have some potential.Undecided

Crasher was already on his way down, so I though "Farkit" one last timeEmbarassed, so knowing the place I grabbed my book, warm clothing, DVD player and 3 of my favorite Porn DVD's and toodled of down there. Half way down get a call from Crash, it's not good, there was wind but it's just dropped out, the drive down wasn't encouraging as there was not much tree movement. The phone goes of again Snides is on the line wanting to know what the go was, told him where we were going and he advises he's less than10mins behind me. Turned into Mylup still no tree movement, turned in CG rd still no movement, get a first view of the lake and low and behold, what was dry yesterday was now wetmust have pissed down last night, branches and crap all over the track yep it had rained a bit. Half way down the track the wind starts blowing, there was a miniscule bit of hope that I may not need all my DVD's.

Get down there Hardie and Crasher are rigging up, Got 4 slap's from Hardie (which I deserved) and went of and rigged, carted all the crap down to the lake (fark I'm fat and out of condition)

When I got to the shore Crasher crawled out of the mud after his first runs and was Stocked with a 40+ on the dial alreadyCoolCoolCool way cool. What was more surprising was the water level, the water was a good metre away from the eastern post 2 days ago and today it was touching the water.

Saw the boys wallowing a bit so chucked the 104L board on so I had a chance of setting up harness lines and sail. Hit the water sank to knees in sludge, hopped onto board with around 3kg of shit stuck to my legs and proceeded to get the bejesus kicked out of me "Fark it's a bit breezy out there"Surprised

Got a whipping at the end of the run, resurfaced coughing and gagging almost throwing up, forgot the joys of Hypersaline water and how it burns every orifice it gets in Surprised Yes every orificeSurprisedSurprised

Sailed back changed down to the 74L with the Choco 28cm, did a couple of runs with this combo but the fin was generating way to much lift with the board doing wheelies (as Snides put it) down the run. Pissed the pointer of for the trusty Weedy, instant resultsCoolCool board was a lot more stable on the water.

Was getting quite frustrated though as whenever I seemed to do a run I'd have someone coming the other way chopping up the water, managed only 1 solo run with clean water.

Finally started getting the board and sail dialed inCoolCoolCoolCool and the wind was picking up when I went back to the start of the course ready to rumbleCoolCool went to water start, got up, gust hit, went down sank into the most putrid mud concievable up to my chestYellYellYellYell managed to drag myself out of that went to water start again, same f'king thingYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYellYell, managed to drag myself out again and I've got to say at this point in time I wasn't the happiest muppet in sessame streetYellYellYellYellYellYell another water start another womping thank fark I landed flat this time still with a face full of this putrid crapFrownFrownFrownFrownFrown, I eventually clear my eyes of the water which burns like a M'f'ker when it gets in them and see I've done my bottom battenYellYellYellYellYellYell You little f'ken ripper thats just the excuse I need to get me the hell out of this cess pitCool Body drag/ float on my back and skull my way back through even more putrid mud and have to crawl the last 3m through the shit, Thats it I'm throwing my toys out of the cot and going home.

Packing up I watched Crasher do his thing and go absolutely hammering down the run and have a massive off, which destroyed his Boom and F'ked his knee and neckFrownFrownFrown

Ado also had a Big of at around 39knots and just shrugged it ofCoolCoolCool

Big Congrats to Snides who cracked a 40+ (PB) Ado with a 40+(PB) and Crasher who I think may have hit a 42 (PB) Awesome work guys.

Well I can officially say that that was definately the last trip for this little Red muppet down to cheese graters, Today all the planets pretty much lined up and after 3 years of frantically scrubbing my bollocks with food processing utensils, Cheese graters was finally firing, but I'm sorry to say that my personal opinion is that it is still a shithole, my eyes, nose and throat are still sore from the hypersaline water, I'm hoping and praying that I don't get an infection from the crap in the water.

At 600m(from go to woe) the run is way to short for my liking and any more than 3 people on the water at the same time is to many unless theres some realy good course ettiquete going on.

I can now say that I have sailed Cheese graters at 90% of it's best (a sligthtly better wind angle today would have made it wundeebar) and I still hate it with a passionYellYellYellYellYellYell I will now have no regrets and doubts in my mind about missing out on sailing there.

Give me weed, rocks, cobblers, sharks. crabs, ignorant pricks in boats, kiters and chopCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCool

Ps,

All the other boys had funWinkWinkWink

Tim and I hit Creepy Crawly just before 0900, looked good, rigged the 5.2 on old speed board with 22 cm weedy modified to assy port tack.

Found the wind very square down the run, (think it was NNW) gusty and holey.

But there were some nice gusts, as usual I was having trouble keeping the power down in the stronger gusts, was going faster in the medium gusts.

Tim got a 39, best we've seen at this place, so it does have potential.

Had a big front come thru around 1100, plenty wind, rain and thunder, sat that out.

Just as we were heading back out Sam arrived and started rigging.

Went back out but instead of swinging to  NW, WNW , it was due West, much too broad and choppy.

Sam was very dissapointed when we told him!

I left Sam And Tim at hardys, hope Sam gets something.

EDIT, I've just checked this file on realspeed (24/5/09) and it's given me a different alpha, not much difference, a 17 instead of a 16, and it seems to be because realspeed allows a smaller miniumum distance, this one is only 115m long. I also had a shorth 20kt alpha 70, max speed 30kt, min 12kt, but it was so wide that at 70m seperation, it's still only 180m long. GPSarPro didn't show this one either. Thought I'd made at least one nice gybe, but the aproach was just too broad, had no chance of getting back within the 50m.

Awesome effort today guys, I was held captive all day with the  Garden Island Causeway closed and me on the wrong side of itYell, should have taken my board to work so i could have sailed back. NW will make the causeway an awesome speed run, but by the time i got released wind was to far west making it a beam reach but the water looked oh so smooth in the area where the wind hit it

It's scarey there probably is a book there somewhereEmbarassed, but if I can have a crap session and give a few people a laugh then strangley enough it cheers me upCool

Out of all this I can say I've sailed it at it's best (and still don't like it)

The vid is posterity (and a bit of sadism)

People will look at that and today's speeds and go down there and discover the joys of grinding their groins on the graterSurprised

They will curse, they will swear never to return.

The next forecast they will watch the vid and be tempted again knowing full well that they will be skunked.

But I can rest easy and say "yeah mate, it goes orf, I was there look at the vid"Wink

Windiest day of the Year for many years and Crasher get's the highest 5x10sec in WA, shows you the madness, but more importantly talent the man has!!!!  He was running square and achieved those speeds, and he was on a 54cm Slalom board.  What could the guy do running broad on a speed needle at Sandy?? Pity about the knee and neck get well soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
