Pelican Point, Carve 131, Arrows 6.8.

Again struggle with the rear strap, that cost me a dented on the nose again, a sail batten went through into the pocket.
Lost half of the track on the GPS...What a #$%^ session.

I'll give this board another month, then chop into pieces.

Melville Beach, WA, AU

85L Sonic, 5.7 Koncept, 32 vector 18 - 15 knots

My first sail at Melville since the tenth of December! Gybing practice. Pity the wind dropped out. Was well powered up at the beginning.

Continuing my record of a PB every time I use my Koncept, and a second best score for 1 hr and distance.

Strange how I get my best distance scores when I am doing gybing practice. I am not sure why that is.

Awesome sesh at safety bay with Mark, joined by Adam the speed machine (got me by a hair this time mate!!) Blasting all over the place and finally nailed that 30 NM back from pengos. Woohoo!! Mark was flying on his new loft racing 7.0 and somehow holding it down when I was fine on the 5.4 Surprised machine!! Sonic number 2 now completely ruined by a large crack near the tail so might be a few days till back on the water as I still haven't got my other sonic back from the shop (2 months now !!!! Cry) Hopefully I can twist their arm to do it by next week! Still a killer sesh though! Cool

Session at Sbay with The Snake.

It was windy when I arrived at 1pm and started rigging. I had only put the 7m in the car to avoid chickening out.

Snake rigged his 5.4 and was sure that I was going to get blown off the water so I put some weight in the jacket and plenty of downhaul on.

Started with a few alphas and just missed a 25.03 at 57m!Yell Made a few adjustments but the sail was rock solid and no problems holding it down

Moved up to the top of the bar once Snake hit the water and started doing some runs. They felt so easy but were not as fast as Snake so progressively backed off downhaul and ditched weight and let off outhaul. Then the wind started dropping. All the runs felt perfectly under control and could have used more wind whilst Snake said he felt on the edge at times with the Ram 5.4.

Went in ditched the weight and had a look at the data (a 24.84 alpha but with a trackpoint spike!Yell) then went back out for some more alphas and a crack at the mile.

Nicely powered up throughout and back in for another data check saw me beat the Snake by .01 of a knot over the mile. That got his dander up so he went back out and had another go to get his 30.3. Well done on the first Sbay 30!

Had a final go at some more alphas and a few runs but the wind was not as strong then had to head home due to dinner commitments.

Need a bigger speedy weedy for alphas with this sail to get the speed across the wind but happy with a PB legal doppler min speed of 16.3 knots.

Continue to be impressed with the Loft Racing Blade 7m. Range of 15 to 25+? knts and gybes sweetly and really stable.

Fastest ever speed on the sonic with a weedy.

Loft Blade 7m, sonic 100, yoyo kinetic 27 weedy.

Great results Snake. The mile, Alpha, distance...the lot. Great stuff.

Sorry about your board. 2 months is a lot. Steve fixed mine in 10 days, and looked like brand spanking new again (until today, that is)

Mine has a dent in the middle now, and a slight chip. I don't think it's leaking, so I'll patch it up, then take it back to Steve once I bulk up more damage.  But I also need to fix 2 sails. And reluctant to use Toby's large boom with my 8.1m , given the amount of damage I'm causing these days...

Snake, Troppo said today he has been waiting for his board for two months also.

I've only ever had to wait a week for mine Smile

My advice is get  your girlfriend to take it in for you next time, or at least wear a short skirt! Wink

I'd lend you my Sonic, Snake, but I value it's integrity! Wink

Vando, I am using 22cm on my powerex rdm (slightly more flex top than the bico) for minimum (15knts) and had it downhauled to 26 at the start yesterday. Then backed it off to about 24cm.

Pointman, want to try the 7m on the nonose?! Not sure if it will work on a 50 wide board?

Cheers for the offer Bender, I just got in touch with the boys and it looks like I'll get my original sonic back Sunday arvo anyway so I'll just get the other one in there when I pick it up and save myself a drive! I know who to go to next time though, cheers for the kind offer Smile
