Quick sesh at the Hook Shark Bay WA

5.5 TR-8, 55w Mistral, 21 slingshot

Worn out from 7 weeks work an had the wrong sail size in my bags, hee hee thought i was on the 5.9 for a few days to find out i was on the 5.5. No wonder the Yeti could not put the power down on his 5.6 when i have 38kg advantage. An said i am on a 5.9. Sorry Tom. Enjoyed the explore an learnt more about the tides an places, not to mention gear tuning. Always more spots to explore an enjoy in this great playground.

Glad you admitted that dodi, makes me feel a bit better about thinking I was on the 43 when I was on the 48, (they're both marked now).

Do you want a lend of my texta?

A big 5.5/5.9 in the window should do the trick.

Well lit on a 5.6 most of the time. I think it's got a wind shadow. Petit and Shell beach 5 knots strongerYell. Slightly too square on SSW or SW. Might be better with a full tide (2.0m +) with the inside run becoming sailable. Still the flatest water I've sailed up there Bender.

I reckon the hook could be great for alph's on high tide in a howling southerly. By the sounds of it you had Petit Pt like we did windy, but no enough water, bloody long and bumpy track thoughYell

I was out on one of the original 47 mistrals with grip issues. the jibes I made were nowhere near the fast entries that I went to sheet in  on and slipped. It's great for alphas on SW and would be great on SE mornings (Jibing at the second cove in from the point.

The next sandy point further north on a SE or E would be a WA nm contender. Same sand bar as the hook just running SSW.........could be super fast. Not sure if the SE will work there as when Petit had 25 knots SE, that streatch only got 15-18.

...and yeah Petit square and rather shallow. Look at Hamelin Pool tide chart. 1.80 high would be sweet, and timimg nearly spot onWink. Shell beach 5 hrs later. I thought you could sail Petit point, drive hour back to the hook (2hrs later it high tide there), than 40 mins drive to Shell beach (5hrs later its high tide) and score all 3  at high tideCool. The Shark Bay 3 Course Meal I'd call it (2 beers and a Pie)
