2917 days ago Had an early start at Boggy and hit the water arount 9am. It was light and gusty so headed out on the 10m/HD83 and had some nice runs in flat water as the wind was holding NNW. The wind gradually filled in to 15 or so but there were still the big lulls so I stayed on the 10 at tried to get it to 30. I tried a little more downhaul than last time and the sail really came to life and felt much lighter/less draggy. It also worked much better with the SL2 46 which is probably borderline undersize for gusty conditions. I ended up pushing the 10m Avanti to 29.58 peak and a 28.26 5x10. I reckon a 30knt average should be possibly with a bit more tuning.
After a rigging break I headed out on the 8.6 Evo5 for another 40km and had a great sail with long runs near the northern bank. I think I have hit a bit of a wall with the boards top end and some tail cutouts may be in order, or maybe a new HD73 for 8.6 & 7.8 weather. Happy with the PB speeds on the big kit though. Smaller gear would have been a little faster but not as much fun in the lulls.
Good to catch up with some crew I haven't seen in a while, one nutter even went out just in board shorts
