Windxtasy (13853km):

I thought last Friday's session would be easy to beat, but it seems not.
With the Melville Water graph showing nothing less than 17 and as high as 30 knots in the last hour I left the big gear at home and rocked up to Melville just as the wind was dropping off. Confident it would pick up again I rigged my 5.4, and while I was rigging people were zooming along nicely. The water was really flat, and Slowboat (who was celebratng being a new Dad) was getting excited. Of course the wind dropped off just after Slowie hit the water, and my cause wasn't helped when I discovered I had left my wetsuit at home. With a 14 degree maximum today sailing without wetsuit was not an option. Hubby came to the rescue and brought my wetsuit over, but by the time I got on the water the wind had fizzled and I could barely get planing. I was happy to make it out and back without falling in the cold water, and not wanting to get stuck out in the middle in the gathering gloom, I decided the beach was a better option.
I was surprised that Melville Water graph was still showing 20 - 24 during the time I was on the water. It was certainly nothing like that at Melville, where the wind was offshore.
I at least had a better day than a cockroach who made the mistake of choosing to overwinter in my wetsuit. I discovered it half squashed but still alive on my leg when I removed my wetsuit.
It was good to catch up with Tim and Shaw, and to know that the Pinnaroos would at least make it onto the board for June, and that Craig would not be relying on my pathetic effort for backup.
