Flatchat (9962km): Melville Beach, WA, AU Huge turn out for a wet cold and wind 'shifty' wintery day. A full carpark with all the usual suspects present. It felt like hard work today but well worth sticking it out. Started on a 40cm fin as conditions seemed marginal but eventually field in with multiple fronts coming through. Changed down to a 38cm midway through and probably could have gone smaller in some of the squalls but too lazy. Still defrosting an hour 'shower" later. Lunny (42007km): Melville Beach, WA, AU Not a bad session Plenty out enjoying the on/off conditions. Had to give the big girl another go, shes a keeper. Mistral137, Reflex4 7.8, Tribal ws33, Tribal PM 42

Seems like the best wind was between 1 and 2 after that was a bit on and off. Canmore still works. Might buy a second one as a backup. Was rained on while derigging and the inside of my car is soaked but it was worth it. Anita glad you could join the fun later in the day.
6.6 koncept. Iso 97. Cl 36.

Windxtasy (13853km): Melville Beach, WA, AU iS111, 40 LE weedy 6.2 Koncept a lot of thoughts about today- should have rigged the 7.5 again cold, wet, gusty, shifty, miserable and uninviting - not a top 10 Melville day we are either crazy or desperate for a thrill... but it is always good to catch up with the crew and to see Chris P for the first time in ages third session this week so can't complain too much got a good workout at least I struggled to get comfortable today, and I struggled to get my cams to flip. New sail. Tried reducing batten tension, altering downhaul, adding outhaul - got closer but the cams still needed a kick to get them over. Might need a KA mast for this sail I think - the right mast made all the difference for my 5.4Koncept. Anyone have a 430 SDM KA mast I could try?
Jeff (13393km): Melville Beach, Mistral 112 KA Koncept 7.2 Got there a bit late so may have missed some of the best. Nice to catch up with the regulars and even managed to time the rain so I was in and out of it.
Chris Porter (11725km): Nice cruise on the big gear at Melville. Only just enough breeze. Sonic 295; Ram 7.8; GG36cm |
