An interesting session sailing alone in the pond at Safety Bay

JP Slalom 84 NP RS Slalom II 5.8 chamelion 24, love that finTongue out

Wind angle was all over the shop and current was flowing pretty strong too which would lead to the outer sandbar suddenly appearing dead flat a speed sailors dream sort of flat in front of you, then all of a sudden the swell would build and a 3 foot tall wall of white water would leave you with about 1 second to react to avoid it whilst accellerating through 30 knot mark

Finished with a dinged deck thanks to the lever on my ratchet extension digging into it and a splitting headache from one of my encounters with the wall of white waterCry

was really getting things sorted when the deck dinged so a bit unhappyYell

Not a good session. All by myself (boo hoo) left my helmet at home, high tide, choppy and gusty.

Didn't realise I had no helmet until I had rigged, didn't want to leave gear by itself, couldn't be bothered downrigging, went out wothout helmet on, felt naked!!!!!

Had one run, spun out, just managed to stop digging leeward rail, decided my wife is too young to be a widow, packed up and came home.

Hi Sam, missing sailing with you, might have stayed out longer, hard to tell about this new place, charts showed it dropped out when I was there, when I checked the esturay on way home, very high tide, and very choppy, this place wasn't as choppy, but very gusty with a long walk needed every run.  I might try it again?

One of the things that really annoys me about Realspeed doppler is how it drops your 2 sec, The data for the 2 sec peak stated that the min speed was 35.009 and the max was 35.261, so how the fuck does it claculate 34.902??Yell

Hardie I feel your pain. A lot of the time the rspeed 2 second is significantly lower than the average of the two 1 second speeds. This has to be a bug. My 2 sec from today was 0.25kts slower than the average of the 2 points. GPS Results calculates it correctly. And I just worked it out! Tools->Options down the bottom left "Doppler Error" is set to 0.2!!! Set it to zero, wait 45 minutes, and re-enter your data. About to do mine... EDIT: NUP didnt work. The sequence I had to get a 38.274 2 sec was: 38.365, 38.433, 38.52, 38.527, 38.406, 38.411 Not sure how my best 2 sec ends up lower than all of those numbers?!! I'm going to overrule realspeed on that one. GPS-results calcs it as 38.537... I will go 38.523 :)

Well done boys,Cool Lokked bloody gnarley on the estuary after I dropped the boys at school this morning. Stayed hiding in the house catching up on paperwork looking out the window at the balistic squalls coming through.

Managed a quick 3/4hr session on the water at Sharkies, the 5.8 was totaly overdone, but the waves were lining up sweet.
