Went to Benders back yard today "Glory Holes" great place to sail, and I now know the location of the sand banksEmbarassedvery eloquent "get off" Good day with the crab crunchers, Bender Decrepit and 25 (Pete) from Swan river mob. Nebs and Lao Shi both made the trip. New highway makes it a two hour run for me, from the original 2.5 to 2.75 normallyCool

Quick blast at Melville with Marcel. Also spied Patrick and Greg. I found it very choppy today, and a bit sketchy to get wound up despite the good wind.

Great session at Melville. Tried out my RRD FSW 85 for the first time and was stoked at how easy it is to sail and how much fun in the chop and slop. Good to see plenty of Pinnas around - I saw Marcel, Chris, Pointman, Hard Pole and Chad. Congrats to Marcel for cracking 31 on the big board. Wind was a bit up and down so I tried various combinations of the FSW 85 and Futura 93 with Manic 5.3 and Overdrive 6.5. First proper session since summer so I'm going to be a tad sore tomorrow Tongue out

Checked out Bender's back door... erm I mean his Glory Hole... ahem I mean Australind.

Ezzy Infinity 7.0, Loft Blade 5.6, iSonic 94, JP Weedy 31 and MFC Weedburner 29.

Got there to see Decrepit (and his lovely wife), Mineral, Lao Shi and 25 all rigged up ready to go.  Bender turned up soon after.

Initially went out on the Ezzy, while most others were slogging away this new sail just caned!  Got some comments that it looked a bit strange but breathed well, it certainly felt fantastic on the water.  Eventually changed down to the Loft 5.6 to try some screaming alphas near the jetty.

Try as hard as I might, I just couldn't break 32 today.  Those nautical miles were great though, I did 5 above 27 knots.  Bit of a leg burner by the end!  Missed out on a 22 alpha by just 10 metres, it felt good, going to have to just tighten up the arc a bit I think.

All in all this was the best sail I've had in months, fantastic to sail with the crew, good to check out a new spot.  Also the new highway rocks!

Fun blat at Melville in 10 - 20ish K's.

I rigged a bit optimistically and was mostly undercooked on a 6.6 Koncept + G115 + 32 Goldwing and later the S-Type 93 + 32 Goldwing.

Some nice puffs around 22-23K, but plenty of lulls.  Really shoulda been on the 7.5 Undecided

Oh well...still had a fun sesh Smile.

Saw Marcel on something bigger than wave gear Tongue out, and Hardpole was getting amongst it.

Great outing at Glory Holes. Thanks for the pass Bender.

3 Nmiles over 29 just a few too many holes. Had a 14.81 min speed alpha but too slow on the way in to be good. Had a 24.5 at 68m!

Pleased with the hour on the *brd nonose.

We had all sorts of weather including hail!

Koncept 5.8 (now with even more patches!), JP84, 29cm elmo weedy / *brd nonose, 24cm elmo whistling weedy.

Good to see so many crew out fanging around and well done on the back up Nebbs. The sail looks different but good. And yes the new highway is excellent.

Melville, 5.8KA, 30cm JP, 95l Sonic.

Fun day, but was getting frustrated at not improving on the 2 sec speed, but once I got time to get to a computer with realspeed things looked better.

HAve changed my Alpha to use trackpoint (was using doppler but it gave a bodgy 23.4 alpha that wasnt really joined up). Accidentally loaded an old version of realspeed and it gave me a 41 knot peak !!! I think I would have noticed. These numbers agree to KA72 so I think they are right.

Sounds like Benders Glory Hole is worth visiting ! Well done guys.

Its odd, we are ranking higher in international than Australia - been like that for most of the month.

Well done on the PB's Hardpole! Gotta go broad in the gusts for the 2 sec.

We are higher in International because the some of the International team scores are between us and the next Aus team.

These points disappear in National ranking.

Thanks everyone, I did fall for the old - if hes sailing there it must be deep enough trick. And followed someone into the corner, then chickened out and found that after jybing its not all mud and sand but there are some rocks under it in places !. Now the fin is not a 30cm but a 29.5cm ! Still all fun.  Looking at google I wonder if that is the spot as it seemed to be further inside than that but I guess the GPS must be right ;-)

Sunday 20090920

The Alpha was the big surprise, I didnt even think I had done any good jybes but that one I had accelerated up to 28K within the 500 (on the way out of the jybe) and that got the high average.
