Sparky (3994km): Sans Souci, NSW, AU Fanatic Falcon 105L, Simmer 3XC 7.5m2, Fanatic 40cm fin Blimey, that was tough! When I arrived the wind was marginal, so I rigged my 7.5 and headed upwind to the sand bar, and had a few gentle runs. But then it became super gusty and I was struggling (and sometimes failing) to keep control of the sail. I should have gone back and changed down but whenever I do that the wind disappears, so I persisted. Bloody knackered by the end of it from going unhooked through the squalls. But more PBs! Happy to have gone past 25kts. Next target - 30! Btw, it might amuse my team-mates to know that the day I joined the Double Demerits, I got 3 points and a $200 speeding fine. Putting myself through some kind of initiation perhaps? | ||||||||||||||||||
Karl (3279km): Tabou Rocket 140 Loft 02 7.4m Select Elimator weed fin Gusty southerly wind that peaked around 20 knots. Not as strong as forecast. Canton Beach, NSW, AU
Interesting post windsurf discussion about speed windsurfing. Is it more impressive to go 50 knots an hour in 60 knots of wind or 25 knots an hour in 10 knots of wind? Do some people take it a bit too seriously? Dunno. A new wetsuit which worked very well to keep me warm on this cold day. Only got to about 16 degrees or so. Good one Sparky. More PBs. |

Cheers Karl - great to be on the scoreboard for the month, albeit in a fairly modest position...
Re your question - given how terrifying I find it going 25kts I have to be more impressed with the 50. Can you imagine catapulting at that speed?!
