Little refresher course at Wallyworld and Later Melville

New sails feel great

Sonic 85, Ram F12 5.7/6.3

Rocked up at Melville to see Scarrgo coming in raving about the conditions.

Rigged the 5.7 on the Lorch and bandit 30 skinny.

Couple of short upwind runs before a blast down to Majestic for the mile. A bit underpowered at the start but nicely lit through the troughs at the end.Laughing

That was when the wind swung and droppedCry

Slow work back upwind and called it quits to head for Wallyworld with JJ and Scarrgo.

Joined by Wog and good blasts coming through as we rigged. Typical gusty Wallyworld with one sweet gust on the old girl coming back down the bar.

LB7,S100,GW32 (magic combo)

You might have told us you were going sailing Snake!Undecided Nice numbers though and welcome backSmile

Fun sail with Sean, Mark and Wog at Wallyworld - as expected, very off and on.

Melville Beach, WA, AU

started the day at melville then migrated to wally world when the wind swung had the old sonic out for some fun

really angry with myself now cause i thought i had a couple of smoking NM's in at melville, i went right from the sticks on the bank to just about majestic point but now i checked my NM calculation includes a shody gybe and some daudling upwind for a couple 100 metres Yell

needed to go just past majestic to get the full run, i can only dream of how good it would have been if it didn't have a gybe and upwind chilled sailing in itYell

struggled at wally world just to get sailing was so knackered from the last 3 days sailing and the morning

the sonic performed very nicely in the chop out from melville in the morning and in that bouncy stuff i recon it was quicker than the 76 isonic

but the sonic was a absolute pig to gybe had to push so hard to get it around, everytime i forgot i needed to go in full boar it threw me off even up at the flat water of point walter, but then again when you did push hard enough to get it to go around it went around super fast and exits were incredible none of this pumping nonsense i was scrambling to try and get into the footstraps as it was already back up to top speed

5.0 koncept, 6.2 reflex, 76 isonic, 85 sonic, 30 jp sl, 32cm pointer ?

I wouldn't have thought it was possible to get skunked today, but there you go. Cry

Although still tired and sore from yesterday I decided to set aside my habit of not sailing on consecutive days and try some different combos to find one that works in high wind. So I took my Futura and my two biggest sails out of the car and put in two small sails and the three smallest boards. Departure was delayed by unexpected guests, but it was still blowing when I left home. One rain squall later there was calm at the river and the biggest gear I had was my 85L board and 5m sail.

Got there in the afternoon, after the big wind, but still some. And plenty of weed! Catapaulted on pointer fin, then changed to weedy. Iso 76 then 101 with 5.8 Koncept.

Pinnaroo Point, iSo 94, Ezzy 7.0

Just a quicky before the wind and light faded...

The water was sloppy, the rain was stinging my face, the wind was variable... but fk it was good!  Laughing

Welcome back Jake! Is the dissertation finished or was the call of the wind just too much?

Great work to push those rankings up even further.

Scarrgo. The first rule of Naughty club is when you think you have sailed far enough sail another 250m!

Shame it didn't work out but I will forgive you just this once!Innocent

Had a big off when I hit a clump of weed and lost my GPS. If anyone finds it washed up at Melville please let me know. I'll buy a carton for the person that finds it.

Sorry to hear about your loss Grumpy. Hopefully it will wash ashore and you'll get it back.

Elmo gave me some good advice and it has saved my GPS at least once - As well as strapping the GPS pouch to your arm, have the neck strap attached and around your neck.

good effort there guys, I did contemplate a mission to the river instead of the drive south. Sounds like it was a bit of a mess... glad I did the drive instead :)

Grumpy, where were you when your GPS came off? I may go down to Melville later and have a look for it for you.

Grumpy, I went for a wade along the shallows in a lowish tide this morning, from the carpark to the point, and checked the high water mark on the way back but no luck, sorry. It was very pleasant in the sunshine and light breeze however.

Your GPS must have washed up somewhere. I would suggest a more comprehensive search of the reedbeds (there are lots of hidden pockets in there) if anyone else goes looking, working westward from the new rockworks. High tide might be best, for floating the GPS pouch into view...

Anita. One of the kiters picked it up yesterday PHEW!!Smile. I'm going to get it off him tonight. So glad he was honest enough to let me know. He won't even except my beer.

I'm definetly going to do somthing about securing it better. Lesson learnt. Or maybe I just won't go flat out into clumps of weed, can't promise that though.

I can't thank you enough for looking for it. It wasn't expected. I owe you a favour.

Thanks, Ian

Hey great news! So glad it's been found. I had no doubt that whoever found it would return it if they knew who the owner was.

I live close by and you don't so I thought I'd go and look for you. No favours required.
