4277 days ago 1 categories  When all the elements come together in Cornwall, its really a magic place to sail. We had an intense low pressure for August, pushing up a south swell, which  misses this place altogether and once the wind started to pick up and the bad weather pushed away to the north, I had the most stunning crystal clear water to sail in just yards from the beach. The wind was somewhat turbulent and gusty, and using the 90 litre board helped a little in the lulls and light patches. Early on I managed to hook into a relatively solid gust and peaked close to 39, but the wind always seemed to die the further away you were from the shore so all of the ten second peaks were down on the square course. About a couple of hours into the session I hit a sandbank full on and the inevitable crash sent me into the rig at full tilt, resulting in the carbon boom being smashed to pieces and my face hitting the bottom. Fortunately all was ok and I changed to my back up boom and FF79. Speeds were no faster on the smaller board as the course had now become really choppy. Overall a fantastic day and potentially some more sailing tomorrow. On returning to Falmouth in the afternoon the wind had really picked up and the raging sea was something special to see.
