Pt Walter after work. Wind was good and direction was spot on, but the tide was much lower than expected and the snot weed kept me well away from the bank. Good to share some laps with Slowy and Fudge.

Melville Beach, WA, AU

nice day at melville

very low tide, not bad wind not too strong not too light just right

tried my new toy a enigma 180-226

it felt very light on the water and very nice in the hands too very happy with it

got a few good little fun runs on the slalom kit on the in side of the bar, bear aways were only about 100m long though and straight into a jybe before i hit the weed, not really flat water but the 90 was just eating it up today

all up a fun day on the water cracked out the speed board at the end but that was a waste of time and energy, not the day or place for it

5.6 reflex 4, 90 mistral sl, 30 jp sl

44 clockwood speed, 24 scarrgo weedy

Safety Bay, WA, AU - Early 90s F2 Sputnik, 23 Weed Fin, 5.3 Tush Lightning.

Another afternoon to remember - a fun session at SB with Jon, Mark, Jeff and John (Norts); who all had good pace.

The wind picked up at the end of the afternoon and Mark made the most of it whilst the rest of us were de-rigging. A couple of extra runs yielded the big 40. Well done Mark.

Caution! Beware of the dredge pipe if you sail at SB - it terminated at least 3 fins today.

Long day at the SBay office.

Bit of alpha practice to start and the MXR weedy was great in the gybe but the wind was gusty limiting cross wind speed. All the alphas were on the inside of the pond due to the tide / pipe.

Checked out the bank on 3 occasions but not deep enough. Still depth checking on the 22 on the third one.

Did a few runs bearing away towards the beach inside the pond for a 34 but no space to wind up

Finally got deep enough to step over the pipe and do some runs from behind the dredge down the bar.

Slow to start with 36s to Recycle's 39s. Tricky part was getting in the harness and straps fast enough to enter the run with speed.

Dropped the boom in 2cm and immediately added 2 knots. A number of 39s followed by hard work runs out in to the chop/swell in the bay to work upwind.

Everyone else called it quits but decided I had unfinished business as it felt windy enough for a 40. Put more weight in the vest and decided to do 2 more runs. Wind had continued to build but the run was starting to chop up.

First was another 39 but 2nd was the best start of the day for the 40.93 peak and a 38.92 10 sec.

Lb6.3 (needs the shorter boom to give it the extra grunt but hard upwind), MXR speed weed 22 (found another gear on the last run needs to be powered up but unexpectedly good for gybing), LURCH!Cool 5kg

Safety Bay, WA, AU

Fun times with Lao, Norts, Jeff and Geoff. Alpha practice first and lots of waiting for the tide to come in.

Then tentative exploration of the damn steel pipe from the dredger cutting across the start of the run. Smacked it once but luckily not too hard.

The position of the dredger meant the cross-wind lead up to the run was only about 25 metres, found it quite hard to get the board up and planing fast enough before having to turn downwind. Super smooth on the run though Laughing

Lao got the bit between his teeth and went out again after we'd all packed up and smashed through 40 - nice one Mark Cool

Safety Bay, WA, AU - late start a bit after 4pm. Quite challenging but a lot of fun. Very shallow but I guess that is Safety bay. Fin repair seemed to hold up after all the dragging through the mud. Great to catch up with the rest of the crew.

CA Speed 53, MXR 24 weedy, Koncept 5.8

(Edited with realspeed results rather than KA73 -peaky run meant the 2 sec was .16 different, my PB is a realspeed so thought I would be consistent).

Melville Beach, WA, AU

Very gusty and variable

Xfire 80 wallowed in the lulls, so Xfire 98 did the job with 5.8m KA and 26 weedy

JJ those are good numbers for only a 25m lead up. How much longer is that dredge going to be around I wonder?

Nice alpha. Looks like you got plenty of practice in!

Sorry the tide was even lower than expected. What time did the run become sailable?

Looking forward to seeing everyone else's numbers.

Disappointed I couldn't get down there today.

Nice speeds Chris and Jeff. Jeff - a second best ever 2 sec and a top 5 5X- gotta be happy with that. Keep pushing. Well done!

So close to a PB, Jeff!Yell It was tough getting going out there today.

Bummer about the Sputnik, Geoff. That board we talked about is no longer on Seabreeze. Typical!

Great set of team numbers!

Mark, DEfinitely elite at speed now, regular 40's!!!!!Cool  Interesting how I beat you to 18K, and now I seem to be stuck on 20K, and you're over 30K!!

Great to see you posting again Scarrgo, and posting the biggest distance of the day just like the days of old. Well done!

Geoff, second best speeds in 2 sec, 5X & alpha. Good work mate. If it hadn't been for that dredge being in the way there would have been more PB's for sure.

Mark, your skill and determination are an inspiration to us all. It was a great day for speed, and you made the most of it! Very nice alpha, and a second best 5X for you too. Well done and Congratulations! I bet Slowy will be regretting he didn't stay.

Geoff - sorry to see your old F2 with it's rear end busted up...

You can borrow my Futura 101 to take to Cervantes if you like - it's pretty quick.

Anita - I don't think the channel will bother us too much once the dredger has gone, it didn't seem unusually choppy. Laughing

I had about an hour on the run from about 5pm - BTW do you know how to reset the time of day in Realspeed?

When Mark said he had a 39 I knew he would have to go back out ! I think he should get headlights for the board.

There is a fair bit of "faith" involved in such shallow water ! After a few runs without touching you just believe it will be OK.

Sad to see the F2 with an adjustable tail, I did suggest to Geoff to see if he could claim it under warranty Smile

Amazing the pipe didn't take a chunk out of the leading edge of the fin!

Geoff, if you like those narrow boards you'd just LOVE one of Slowy's speed boards! I "grew up" with a long narrow board (Bic Vivace) and the Mistral felt like going home for me. They are really fast too! Ask Slowie for a demo one day.

Having said that I love the iSonic for lightwind days.

Great session men! That lead up to the run looks terribly short, good speeds considering!! When's this dredging supposed to end anyway? It better not wreck summer at the beaver :(

Jake - the run in was short and you had to go over the steel pipe, which hopefully was still floating 20cm under the surface. It was on the surface for most of it's length Surprised

Anyway, I'm not sure I would have liked a longer run in, having to trust that the pipe was still underwater when you got there at 30 knots...

It didn't hold Mark back too much - he got going quicker and was able to keep increasing his downwind speed...(though he probably would have got 42+ with the regular run in)

Looks like they don't have much more to do - the channel is up to the outer edge of the sand bar Laughing
