on the water about nine, wind not really strong enough for huge speeds so decided to try and bump up my hour and distance pbs.
was going along reasonably nicely until i stopped for a bit of lunch.
upon resuming found wind had swung ang got very holey changed up but still not enjoying the big holes so packed it in.
used a 102 rrd x fire with a 33 choco weedy and a 7.0 severne R3 and changed to the 122 x fire with a 40 choco weedy and a 7.8 severne R4
when it dropped off.
good to catch up with pepe and slugger.

3670 days ago 2 categories Fun times at Fangys with Decrepit, Wazzawafty, and later Fin , Basil and Tomski.School run to do - post more later..
I lobbed at S bend this morning and said hello to the Aged Care Facility busdriver as she dropped off Decrepit and Wazzawafty for their day outing. With the usual amount of forgetfulness and indecision the three of us hit the soup a little while later. I had chosen the QEII and Koncept8.5 and then craft glued in the reborn 24HC Delta. This is the fin I wiped out on the Ay Caramba reef at Boombas, so I epoxied in a stainless steel backbone and re glassed the fin. I had to trial stage so I wanted to give it a whirl before finishing.
Immediately we hit the soup I was over-done. This was made worse by the fin having too fine an edge on the leading edge. I could not go uphill at all well. But it did hang on well and was fine downhill.
We headed up to our favourite playground at the moment, the weedbank at Boundary Island. The highlights of the morning session: Firstly, following Decrepit into the squall line that came through. The Cap’n had bore away with a nice turn of speed upon hitting the line so I thought I would follow. However before I did, I decided to find the heaviest downpour to sail in. The end result was that I got my peak speed but I didn’t see any of it. The rain was too heavy to see more than a grey curtain in front. I did try to keep my eyes open for fear of running over the Cap’n who was somewhere in front. Well, for a while anyway.
The second highlight was Wazzasharklure coming in a letting us know that there was a shark nosing around the professional crab pot lines out near the boat channel markers and then in the finest tradition of Captain Robert Scott proceeded to throw himself in the path of said shark at every opportunity. To be honest he might have been attempting to gybe in the chop, but I feel its was a far more courageous and honourable thing to believe he was an altruistic lure.
The wind was typically frontal so it was a little too religious to be comfortable all the time and after it swung west it appeared to be running for a spot at the Vatican it was that holey. So even though Fin and Basil also dropped in the briny the wind was too inconsistent for me to stitch together an hour of note, so after mucking about a bit I came in having satisfied myself that it was a Top Ten Fangy Day ..

3670 days ago More fun at Fangys with Fangy, Wazza, Fin, Basil and Tomski!
Fangy was contemplating an hour but wind was a bit all over the place so talked him out of it, -- DAMN! Sorry Ratz, if we'd known you were going for an hr, we'd probably have given it a go. Instead we just played around in the smooth.
I started off with the newly repaired 6.6, (thanks Bugs great job!), the 65cm board with the bigdelta thingo. Sailed up to the Boundary Island weedbank, but couldn't get comfortable on this, felt a bit overdone most of the time. Put off changing down to smaller board until luch because there were still some big holes.
Felt much better on the 53 with the newly modified super weedy, I've straightened up the leading edge so it's a constant 50deg, instead of it curving around to almost 70. Instead I've curved the trailing edge up to a narrower tip. Very pleased with this, probably won't be as nice if I hit a weedburg, but it sails much better any where else. got my best speeds and alpha on this even though the wind wasn't quite as strong.

A bit of fanging around at fangys, not as smooth as expected but still good. Had some trouble selcting sail & fin, but after
some adjustments things went OK... for the most part.

F2 Vento, 7.8 m2 Challenger, 22 Delta
I'd hardly had a chance to floss some of the more stubborn organic muesli seeds from my maw when I received an urgent and Top Priority message from Fangy " S-bend, Now!". What the....? Dutifully, I rushed to Coodanup ASAP, narrowly missing several lollipop people, to find Fangy and the Capt'n starting to rig up. Wind variable about 13-16 knots but bigger puffs every now and then. Water, water everywhere in Fangyland....now that's a real treat so I put my yabby pump away and got my act together. Everyone worked their way up wind and proceded to have a fun time as the wind built. With my 7.8 up I certainly would have liked to have dropped the studding sails and topgallants as I was struggling in the gusts. Truth be told, I was struggling the lulls and the in-betweens as well but that's just the way it is in WazzaWorld. Generally it was great fun and The Capt'n and Fangy were going like the clappers on downwind excursions. I was following behind and occasionally getting a real charge...the adrenaline was up! The adrenaline was further up as I spied a triangular grey fin in the middle of my flight path...no way was I going to dismount off in that particular place so, after falling off, I reset the computer and headed north a bit. The others headed in, the Capt'n to try a slightly less water-logged board and Fangy to swop to his F2. I had a rest, Fin had arrived and was buzzing around and Basil was rigging up. So a good gathering of the Mob troops although the wind had so many holes it had surely been blessed by the Pope himself. Stroppo appeared later and was enjoying a jolly jaunt as I headed home for a beer and a rub down. Life ain't that complicated.
