Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU. Tushy6.4 & i101 followed by i76. Should have stuck to the 101, but I just like sailing the 76.
Wind was a bit hit and miss, but all and all, a fun day's sail with Rat, Pepe and a couple of locals

Coodanup,
Took the day off work on the forecast. By ten o'clock I was getting quite nervous. I thought the wind wasn't going to show. Decided to rig a 6.5 although I had really hoped for more. In a few gusts I could really have done with a smaller sail but the 100 litre board and bigger sail was probably the best choice for the gusty wind. I think I rigged wrong today and was spinning out all day. Also about lunch time I pulled out one of my foot strap plugs so had to duck home to grab another board. All in all a much more fun day than work.
6.5 V8, Manta 100 then Naish Global Freeride 115, which actually got the top speed.

Above results are GPSarPRO.
Wamba St with 'Ken, Fangy, fin, strop, rod, and as the wind died and we all left, Grumpy nuts.
Got there early so I'd be rigged when the wind hit. Well I was rigged for the forecast 25kts, 5.4 koncept, 48cm board and 19.5cm weedy. About an hour after the wind was supposed to be over 20kts, it was a bit over 10kts.
Dragged the 53cm out and plugged in the 21cm 55deg deltoid, couldn't get planning with the 5.4, so rigged the 6.3 race. That was much better, and stayed with that until lunch. I then changed the fin up to the 26cm weedy, much better, could get upwind, and handle the chop better.
More testing of the GW52 and gpslogit installed in the $49 Xperia.
here's the realspeed reults for all 3.
The odd one out is the alpha for the GW52, for some reason realspeed has a big problem processing alphas for this unit.
Fangy's at Wamba with Stroppo, Decrepit,Puf-fin,Rod, and 'Ken.
Fun day on the ancient Mistral Screamer - post more later :-)
But in the meantime have a giggle at this - even my wife thinks its funny!
I checked out Fangy’s on the way back from the school run and it was looking sweet if you were the Over 55’s Cycle Club Morning Tea Organiser. But for me it was decidedly disappointing. An hour later Cap’n Calm arrived on the scene to deliver the last rites. Despondent, I went home and burnt a few pieces of old kit as an offering. Having achieved all sorts of Domestic God wonderment I trotted back down after lunch for a session. The wind was still asthmatically frontal with patches of puff with not much in between. I was keen to give my new vintage board a spin. A Mistral Screamer II, mid 90’s I think. Long, heavy with a tiny tail. Just like its owner. I went for the Koncept 7.5 and a Delta21. The Screamer is 95 litres, so under me it sinks like a stone. With the all the excitement a new board can muster I chucked it in the drink and charged off. Actually, make that charged down, as in, sunk.
So Plan B. I wandered out a bit further and got things happening. I was taken by surprise by the self adjusting mast pad. It was like Elmo at the Katy Perry concert. It was going to the front squealing all the way. But it actually worked out to be quite a decent sort of position to start with and I settled into finding out what the old girl could do.
55 at the waist makes her pretty skinny and that coupled with the weight meant it was comfortable and assured in the chop. I could see myself doing longer runs in to the estuary chop. So I did.
The aim was to try an cobble a decent nauti on the way in.I was a bit under finned from the lift aspect so I went a long way wide to get a good chance of a nauti in a decent wind patch. The first few failed miserably with big holes.
I decided to have one more crack and ran over to South Yunderup. ‘Ken followed me over and then headed back. Not long after I did the same with the final chance of a nauti before my arms got too tired.I started back with nothing wind wise to get me excited. I chugged along for a bit and started to get fretful that I would run out of water. ‘Ken had worked up above my line and all of a sudden I realised that he might be waiting for me. This is bad news. Getting hit by ‘Ken’s bad air brings on whole new level to chucking out the anchor.
Sure enough as I get close to the channel mark the wind kicks in and I have a crack. The first half of my nauti is going really well. Then out of the corner of my eye I see ‘Ken loaded up and charging down toward my line. I go low to try and keep out of his bad air zone. But he is absolutely flying and at about 3/4 of the way he has got far enough in front for me to hit it his sail wash. And that ladies and gents was the ball game and a decisive victory to ‘Ken. I am shattred and listlessly sail around for a little while in my own litlle puff of misery. I haul up ashore and trudge off to brood darkly. In the coming days of calm I will plot revenge on the ‘Ken…
And that in itself makes it a Top Ten Fangy Day :-)
