sboardcrazy (24432km): 15-25kts 7th Ave SSW Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU- 5m OD + Falcon 79ltre + 17cms delta. Had a look at Buff but whimped at the channel as I wanted to try the speedboard.Launched at 7th all on my lonesome except for Pete who was out for a while. Plenty out at Buff later. Fun sail! Did a few gybes when 1st out and lots of bearaways. Hit a weedberg halfway through a gybe and came off so bit wary doing runs - kept going generally but you'd get a big bump/hiccup. No wonder I had trouble with the speed board as my gybes and starts were rusty on the 79.. Getting better at starting by the end but stopped and turned the board rather than gybe as I got tired. Came in when it got really strong and had a bite and then took the isonic out but of course then it was more like 15-20kts and couldn't start. Got one beachstart in a gust so just need more wind. Had planned on doing one massive bearaway and then walking it back but wasn't to be.. Back out with the falcon . Disappointed with the stats as flat water and heaps of bearaways but I was comfortably powered rather than overpowered - need to get fitter for more sail though. Also hanging off the boom like a sack of spuds on some as unfit. Went all over the flats with the 17cms - ok working upwind although occasional grind but a bit wary in bearaways. Love the 17cm delta as it opens up a lot more of the flats and settles the falcon down a lot + rarely spun out..getting weed moustaches occasionally though.. My laid back after sailing mood was sorely tested driving the hour home as one of the board tiedowns was making a very loud high pitched scream all the way.. Loud radio almost drowned it out.. Mainly 15-23kts occasional stronger patch. Came in just before it died off for the day - couldn't have timed it better..

Bruce Healey (24088km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Greedy morning shifters used up all the good wind. Looked good as I rigged, was good as I launched but losing its steam by the time I reached the top of the run. Byron Mcilveen (63644km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU TR11 6.6, CA44, delta 17. Another great day of speed sailing 3 days in a row over 300km. Hands have blisters so need rest time now. There was flat water wind was good but not quite enough for the 6.6 to get epic speeds but the weed clumps felt like they were going to throw you over they were so dence. Its Great fun sailing with every one again I love speed sailing its just so much fun.
Tibor (17568km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU What a pleasant arvo that was. No one got any special results but sunshine and rege! What else do you want? Yes...yes ...good results BUT occasionally one should remember the value of sailing on such waters, doing easy lovely jibes.....yes...yes... I could be dreaming here....there was no sunshine today....i think l have been at sea too long!!! of course there was yesterday... and there it was too. Greg Kiskarpati beating his records. Wonderful!
Greg Kiskarpati (20268km): Budgie lake Ka Race 7.1 , Ab + 59 , 19 delta Nowhere near as windy as yesterday but still a fun sail , good to get 2 days In a row after almost 3 months of no sailing |
