FIRST time using a gps on helmet and one on chest< the helmet cam was nearly point two knots faster< so maybe it is the way to go< but only a sample size of one so neither valid nor reliable> for some reason my caps arent working on my keyboard< seems to be reversed cant type a number? how do i undo that

Novara, breeze picked up during the sesh, strting at 12 to 16, finshing 14 to 18kts some 20kt gusts.  Tried a Mistral 55 speed, 95 Litre.  Cetainly a fast board, but was bogging down in the gybes particularly the end of the rig flip coming out the other side, maybe a technique issue?  TR_( &M< PEPEWWEED @#?$*

Late start after a nice day in Perth Looking at the Hairy MacClairy art exhibition at the state library.

Nice load of wind when I did the drive by but as per usual it faded when I got there hence the need for the 7.8.

The day was testing out my new 38cm which I've just made with a softer layup which seems to be working ok.

Played around with the camera on the boom as well.

Time to disembowel the GT11 to see if it can be rectumfried

Fangy's for a cruisey set of cocktails while trying to perfect the power slide on the QEII. Koncept 7.5 Delta24.

Post more later

So Huey didnt really show up in any great force today so I thought I would go and try and film everyone else. The trouble was that they were all too fast for me and I couldnt get myself into a good position to film. So in the end I just sat in the water until Fin came past looking to cause some mischief. The end result you can see below.

Do yourself a favour and watch the clips in HD on the youtube site :-)

Fin gybing with slo mo insert

The Goodies theme song massacred in every way...

And just a quick look at the nice glassy bit at the top end area of the run.

Now for Part II of my general rant conceived whist I was sitting on my backside on a South Pacific cruise. You can ignore all this bit if you have more important things to do like washing your hair, its is 100% not about windsurfing and probably a little offensive to some. My apologies if that ends up being you.

Last time you may recall I had just returned from my cruising on  the good ship ‘Partyingbargearse’ and I found there were several things about the general populace on the boat that I just didn't understand. The next on my list is tattoos. Now I freely admit that I don't ‘get’ tattoos, but there is a lot of art and music I dont ‘get’ either, so no real surprises there. But while I was enjoying the basking in the sunshine session of a lot of very well fed people I had the opportunity to see a lot and I mean a LOT of big tattoos.
This is where I get all ‘Sheldon’ like and ponder the decision making process. I can see that there are some tattoos that have their own artistic merit, but if you going to all the trouble and expense of doing a piece of art wouldn’t you put it on you body where you can see it rather than on the middle of your back? To me it’s sorta like buying a painting and then hanging it on the wall the wrong way around.
Even harder for me to get my head around were the mums with the tattoo of what appeared to be all the kids’ names and birthdates. Now I am the usual ‘barely remembering important dates’ sort of bloke, but I do remember the names of my kids. I even remember their birthdates..usually. So why get a stamp of their names? Are these people afraid of forgetting their kids names?
I wonder what happens if, when you get old and suffer dementia and wake up each morning to find some mob of ungrateful little sods has been in during the night and written their name on your arm. Or even worse, you notice it in the mirror on your back and see that the bastards wrote it backwards!
The other thing that seemed hard to understand was the portrait tattoo. Firstly the ones as per above where you cant see them, seem a little pointless. But my main thought was, wasnt this what we invented photography for?

Whatever..the important bit is - it was a Top ten Fangy DayLaughing

Late afternoon session with The Capt'n, Fin, FirieBob and a coupla others out in a slowly dying breeze. Rigged a Kate Moss but should've gone for the Kardashian Max. Never had enough rag up although I had a fun time for a short while but, to avoid the walk of shame, i called it quits as the pressure dropped.

Distance mission today tp back up PJ at boggy lake, but the fin's beaten me by aboyt 10km!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anybody feels like sabotaging him, don't tell him I encouraged you.

Arrived to square kilometres of smooooth, and white caps out behind it. Anenometer said 13 to 16, so rigged the 6.6 got changed, still hadn't improved so plugged the 21cm 50deg huge deltoid in the big yellow beast and went cruising.

But the square kilometer of glass had shrunk to a few hectares, right in the shallows where the bottom is like coarse gravel. I think the tide was coming in fast, because the wind didn't seem to have picked up.

After an hour or so the wind improved enough to swap down to the 53, but as there was plenty of water and no smooth I went for the 26cm 45deg weedy.

Had no troubles with that, apart from it being a bit sluggish out of the gybes if I went in too far.

Wind started easing off around 6pm so worked my way back to base in case it suddenly dropped out.

Was a very pleasant sail, nice to be on the water again.

Got the call from the Wise One, winds comming up, big decision keep lunching with in-laws or go sailing Wink

Only a short sail, went for my big sail but when on water nothing felt right, kept spinning out, everything felt poop, made a 100 changes untill I'd had enough. Got Wise One to check things over and I think we're onto it. Was a little frustrating but as Herb says life's good, caught up with the guys, talked some BS and shared a beer Cool

Each to his own, but I'm with you on the tats Ross. I guess that makes us boring old farts. What worries me is that it might make my kids want them. Maybe I should get some fake ones to make them uncool?

Fangy, your remaining singing engagements have been cancelled. Effective immediately. Camera work is, however, good. TatRant +1.

Pas, you sure can gybe.......poetry in motion.

Wazzapavarotti: a bit harsh, just because I couldn't remember all the words. Perhaps I could get a tatt of all them? Great work Decrep! Did you manage to do that without a supply of Special D fruitcake? I knew you and Fin would rack up some kms today - well done:-)

Raygun, as Stretchy alluded to, I am setting up camp in the old farts part of town. I guess it's just down to my inability to think outside the rigid box of logic - I envy those who can, especially when it comes to art! (The fact I was singing the Goodies is a pretty strong evidence of sitting in the old fart camp 😄😄)

Hardie, you're right about the one on your head, the 5 best alphas on that are great, whereas only one out of five on your chest was good.

Hardies alpha from head mounted GT31.

Trackpoints and doppler track in alignment and the SDoP dotted lines are right on top of the red line on the speed graph and the average accuracy is +/- 0.208 kts which is the worst of the 8 there.

Here's the chest mounted one.

The mSDoP doted lines are much wider apart, the red line is missing where the +/- is greater than 1.5knots and the average accuracy is +/- 0.562kts, and this isn't the worst case, #6 is 0.612kts.

So 8 out of 8 gybes have good accuracy from the head mounted GT31 but only 3 out of 8 have reasonable accuracy from the chest mounted one. (where the max doesn'y exceed 1.5kts)

Boggy was a bust so didn't do the drive. Pretty impressive storm cells rolled through Adelaide, thunder, lightning, flash floods, day turned to darkk for a bit!!!

Good efforts to grab distance and some pointsCool

Thanks for the head v chest analysis Decrep. I heve mounted an aquapak on my hat too. Will result in gps at 30 degrees off horizontal. I will send tracks for comparrison when used.

Can you tilt you head 30 degrees Evets to make it horizontal? 😜😜 ( and don't believe the chest inaccuracy thing - that was just Hards floppy manboobs cutting out the signal)😄
