Island Pt, WA, AU

every wave in the peel inlet ended up at island point today.

Very hard to find some flat water but still a great place to sail.

Good to see the CST sending it today

Nice to meet Paul from MM

I saw a sail explode in front of my eyes today. RIP redline. RIP

Mistral SL91, 5.7 RRD Firewing, 27 CL SL3 Weed (Island Point) 63 JP Speed, 5.7 RRD Firewing, 21 Tribal Speed Weed a.k.a. 'Tha New Fav' (Liptons)

Nuclear day down at Island point with ' The Cap'n' , Ji, Stroppo, Stu and Oaf. Fully lit on the 91 through the chop, a few tuning tips from Tom and Stroppo and I felt the most comfortable ive ever felt on this board/sail combo. Cheers Guys! Had one big stack right infront of Tom, Im going to chase up my frequent flyer miles for that one, it should get me a trip to Cocos at the very least. Glad to see Ji is not immune to the big gusty ones, he was having a cracker of a day and ended up right next to me in that little buster gust, great to see the young fella out in some seriously big breeze, the only way is up mate and you're climbing rapidly!

Pretty happy with the hour considering I was more cooked on my 5.7 than a apprentice bricklayer at Big Day Out, but just like the bricklayer Im glad I did it........ unlike him, I can remember the whole thing!

Back in after the hour for some much deserved soup, Stroppo has stepped it up this year and I followed suit....with the quality of soup that is. There's a little bit of unease in the team as to whether the Roast Chicken is better than the Leek and Potato but if numbers are anything to go by then Stroppo has the final say on that one! 49nm covered  before lunch, a great start.

After the 3 course lunch it was back out to click over the 100km mark with a few carefree runs back and forth, Huey planned on making it a little harder than anticipated by dropping the pressure and the consistency by The M91 kept charging to get me back for 64nm at Island Point.

From there it was off to Liptons, Tomski had the notion that Ward point was the go for some of the speedier stuff so after defrosting my toes on the drive it was back out with the 5.7 but with the JP Speed underneath. Once clear of the shore I was out of the gates like a dog in a thunderstorm, loving every minute of it. 4 Tacks to ward Point (lucky we didnt bet on that one Tommy Boy! ) and into some runs. Im voting to fire the curator as he obviously didnt read the instructions for the run, the weed bank was not nearly big enough and the chop wither side of it was not for the faint hearted. Still it was enough for some alpha fun (or so I thought - too wide was the verdict on all accounts) and some 5x10s.

As the pressure started to become unstable I follwed Tom back down for an optimistic NM run, only to outrun the pressure and spend the next 30mins drifting/draggin/ trawling (I was the bait for the Noahs) back to Litons via the channel. Something I vouch never to repeat!

A great day out, Stu and Stroppo waiting in the carpark, refreshments in hand.

Thanks for an awesome Fin Slowy, cant wait to have a crack with it at some flat water and real breeze!
