Boombas, severne Gator 5.3, Isonic86 and BP Kestral 22. Got up early to be rigged and on the water for 7am to ensure I was out before it switched to the west. Unfortunatly as is often the case the wind had other ideas and already had a lot of west in it when we got out. I started with the 6.3 but quickly realised I was going to get ripped out of the water so pulled out an old wave sail. Lots of chop and too much westerly scared off the other mobbers so I decided to give an hour a go. This was my first attempt and another learning curve. The hour had a bit of everything in it from flat water at 35knots to big wipe out way overpowered gybes in the chop. I have no idea where the alpha came from but it put a nice shine on the day. Had hoped to go for an century but I had come in for a break when the rain really came in and it looked less than appealing to head back out.

Arrived at Boombas to find Roger and John coming back in, wind was too westerly. So Roger, Rob, Auz and I headed to Fangys to meet Ross there.

Still off shore at S Bend, so not quite enough westerly in the wind. Looked flater than Boombas, so rigged the 5.4 on the 48 with 19cm 50d. but the flat was illusion, by the time we were in the wind it wasn't anywhere near flat. I went looking for Fangys outside bank, flat spot, but in the rain, couldn't see any sign of it. Pounding through the chop to get there wasn't fun. So had a few runs on the flater water just out from Creery Island and Wamba St. Wind was very gusty there, and the 5.4 was a tad too big for the gusts. Thought I'd go back in have a cuppa, and think about changing down. Almost made it back out to join Ratz, but another rain squall drained my enthusiasm.

Coodanup, WA, AU

an interesting sail at fangies

rigged a bit big to start with a 7.0 and was getting my ass whipped on the gusts

despite my 105 kgs of body mounted ballast.

was thinking about changing down when karma had a chuckle at my expense and i cleaned up something

at 30 knots plus.

ventilating sail in the extremely messy result.

voila instant 5.5...

went in to mop the blood up and put up the 6.2

also changed board to the iso 86.

used a 7.0/5.5 severne R6 and a 102 rrd x fire/ 23 muf delta

sb iso 86/25 vector s weed and 6.2 severne overdrive

best speeds on the 6.2

Got to boombas early with expectations of an epic morning, John and I headed out just to find that there was a touch to much w in the wind for it to be any good. While I was doing some adjustments saw John charging down wind towards the shore fully lit up on his 6.3 warp. Time for a change of nick name, total respect John. After a few more adjustments, left John changing down and headed over the far side looking for something better, yes the water was flatter but full of huge weed bergs or islands. Had an enjoyable upwind slog back to the van to find Mike and Auz had arrived and then Ratz soon after.

Decided to call it and headed to Fangys but couldnt raise the enthusiasm to go out again.

Great PBs, nice going John, brilliant hour in those conditions!

Pity I ran out of wind in the middle of my NM, maybe Rob or Roger have a better one.

Don't think there's any chance of us backing up your hour unfortunately

Nice numbers guys, great to see Ratz taking it for the team. Yes I did see all the emails but laying in bed with a warm woman and looking outside at the rain and gusty wind, I did think of you mad bastards at the Coodanup Assylum Wink

Nice PB's again John, congrats Cool
