Lilacs Mistral SL 91 Tr16 7.0 Pepeweed 27 at 48 deg.

Day five, went for hour, was in great pain after five mins.
Should have been faster but too fatigued to sheet in, make the  most of gusts, gybe well etc. Fell in on a gybe. 30 gybes for the hour. Data from KA72.

Water and wind warm, sun shining, flat water..... pretty bloody good Cool Great to be out with Elmo, Shane, Morts, Cliff anfda new sailor, Glen coming back after 25 years. Another mobber..... we shall see!

Koncept 5.4, Sonic 85L + FF20

Fun afternoon with Alby, Shane, Steve on the water. There were a few others like Cliff, Gazman & Glenn who has just returned to windsurfing after 25 years.

Decided to sail early afternoon as I'm on night shift now. Found myself again tossing up betwenn the 6.2 & 5.4 but thought I'd follow Sammy's words & see if I could sail efficiently, so the 5.4 it was. Gee that sail is very good across the breeze, from Kiters end back towards town I got the 28 & a few 27knot NM's, going back towards Kiters I was always a couple of knots slower. Very easy to gybe but on the way out of gybes I did struggle a bit to get back up to speed. Conclusion I think I need a 5.8 to split the gap Wink

The Alpha is all about the speed in as I don't think the actual minimum speed through the turn & speed out were anything special. I was actually working my way upwind at the time so there was a few meters to play with, think it was about 43m from memory. Still I'm stoked to get a 25 as that's been one of my targets, providing it all checks out of course.

Missed out on the big Naughty days but still had a lot of fun today Laughing

Recalculated with Realspeed (standard programme) at home.

JP Slalom 71, NP RSR E7 7.0m, Pepe weed 27cm.

Had a great morning out with my Chicky babe and a fantastic lunch at Frenchies (it was openSurprised) after which my beloved said the winds blowing and I should go out for a sail....What a womanCoolCoolCoolCoolCool

Jeremy and Shane were rigging up when Steve turned up.

I decided that as I'd had such a good lunch I'd better try for an hour, well happy with the results but found out after I'd done it the the mast foot was way to far forward and was slowing me down by at least 3 knots going square, also had issues with footstraps which will take a bit of time sorting out which I didn't have today.

Was great fun first chasing around with Jeremy who was continually reeling me in and the Steve later in the session who looked to be having a lot of fun but I later found out that there is a price for  5 days of bliss.

Awesome fun way to end my Time in lieu down in Albany, great time out with my Chicky and brilliant sailing.

Now we have a good excuse for going out to dinner tonight for some chew and spew.

Groovy

Shane that's a great Alpha & the best NM of the day, awesome what a week for you! Cool

Great to see & sail with you again Alby Smile Well done on a Top5 Hour especially as you looked to be gybing around the carpark area which shortens the run up a fair bit & you are still fidling with set-up.

Steve thanks for hanging in there even though your arms were saying stop! we're knackered!

These are but a few of the great photos Shane took on the 2nd Feb. At the original 8MB the quality is remarkably better than shown here, holding a 600mm lens still is quite a skill. I believe Shane was sitting in his van with the lens resting on the window sill.

Which numbers changed when you used Realspeed Elmo?

Morts

Some great photos there Shane.

Steve I think the Alpha is the big change, I remember thinking when I saw the original post that it seemed very low for the way Elmo was gybing out there. None I saw ended up like the photographic evidence above Wink

G'day Steve, the main change was the alpha, the realspeed 2.001 just wouldn't calculate any of them without a stop in the middle for some bizare reason beyond a mere muppet. Some minor changes to a couple of other numbers (slightly down on original).

Thanks for the photo's and associated mocking, Photo's from either Thurs or friday.

If you look carefully you'll notice I'm still hooked in, hence why I'm so close to the boom, that was a double rehook on that gybe. Interesting to see the spray being blown back.
