Had a massive over 35 knot crash ribs a bit sore just to much board. Great racng the new formate not often you hve people complaining about too much wind but it was crazy. Hats off to all who competed.

sboardcrazy (24824km): 12-28kts NE Wallis Lake, NSW, AU 7.5mGTTurbo-RS4 (111ltre)-43makani weedy then 6.2m R8OD - RS2 ( 90ltre) - 33makani weedy Well that was interesting.. I ddecided to give the new figure 8 GPS freerace a go ,,resigned myself to coming last and headed out on the big gear..forecast from the boat was 12-14kts..Went to whereI thought everyone was supposed to start and??? everyone was up the other end..stuffed around trying to figure out what was going on..fell in a lot and wore myself out and finally they came to start where I thought they were going to,Apparently the buoys had to be moved so the start was postponed.. Got near the start and fluked it and was first over the line which was a great confidence boost.I didn't have a clue.. The green flag went up and I'm yelling out "does that mean start??" It didn't take long for a lot of the field to pass me but I felt I was going ok..Pretty powered up and tiring. I'd put the mast foot further back and the board felt heaps better than yesterday..wasn't sticking to the water ..rounded the first mark and still going ok..hit something and it felt like the fin had been smashed off although it was still working...stopped to get it going ok and off again.. I usually take my gybes on the big gear easy in chop and wait for a lull but silly me thought I'd go in a bit more powered this time and muffed the gybe..going again and I was still doing ok then the outhaul pinged off..grr that was the end of my race..Luckily I was in waist deep water so I spent the next 15mins rerouting the outhaul through the adjustable rollers etc..then just came in to do it properly.. I was only going to go in one freerace so decided to have rest then go out with the smaller 90ltre. I haven't had a decent session on the 90 in chop for years? Launched down the sandbar and had a ball.. Went up the top of the weedbeds but sill too choppy for me to get decent speeds and to go down the weedbed was very broad and by now tthe gusts were getting strong so I just went out in the chop. Overpowered on the 6.2m. Did a nm bearaway and the board was flying around and I wasn't game to commit fully to the harness in case I got thrown over the front..Good hary fun!. Had a bit of a lull but very happy with that nm in the chop..I put the mastfoot forward later and that settled the board down..I couldn't pull the outhaul on as the boom was too short.. The last run back in the wind must have been hitting 25-28kts..I was going to go out again and rerigged the 5.7m and moved the mastfoot forward. ( really needed the 80ltre)..The others were coming in saying it was diabolical so I decided to quit while I was ahead.. Aching now but fun! Starting to learn a bit about tuning the gear.. Don't know how Dezza held the 7m aand 97lte in the 2nd race! well done.. Nice to catch up with all the girls.. Thunderstorms predicted tonight so I took the tent down intending to put the gear out and sleep in the van..Ended up getting a cabin.. Inside now listening to the storms.. Much better!
Ian Wright (16330km): Wallis Lake, NSW, AU. NSW GPS. 15-25 knot N/E. 2 half hour GPS and an attempt at Slalom. Great day of sailing in varying conditions. Futura 122 ,7.8 then 7.0 , Changed to Ray 102 and 7m for Slalom but too Gusty for me.
Mick Saunders (11997km): Wallis Lake, NSW, AU 15-25 knts NE and hard going for the first lap. i hit mud covered in weed on the return and thanks to my impact safety vest, only used three band aids later to stem the burgandy. the second lap felt more under control not realizing lower second panel was slashed proberbly from the caterpolt. That was a long tough first heat and really glad i was part of it. Great to catch up with the mob and my thanks to the Marmong organizers Byron and Muz and others. Fanatic 110, Select 38 weedy, Sailworks 6.6 race.
