Nina (10682km): Peter said he is doing distance - I wasn't convinced at first, really wanted to work on my freestyle. Ended up doing distance... Had to stop because of my stupid hernia - would have liked to do 310. Nice and warm, pretty choppy. First 150km on 99l Falcon and 6.3 Racing Blade, the rest pretty lit on 4.5 and 4.0 North Idol and my 86l freestyle board with the 18 cm fin. | ||||||||||||||||||
Peter (49702km): Distance day at Salvo Day Use Area, Cape Hatteras, NC. The morning was fine with averages around 18 knots, but things got slower in the afternoon when it picked up to mid-20s and the chop got big. Whatever energy I had left quickly got sucked up when the wind increased to 30 knots. Tried to switch to wave gear, but the 4.7 was either overpowered or underpowered, and the combo was way too slow. Getting a distance PB after 6 years is nice, but I had hoped for a little more. But congrats to Nina, who should have recaptured the #1 spot in the women's distance ranking! |

Wow! Big effort, in what sounds like less than ideal conditions. A huge team average distance, and congratulations Nina on recording the top ladies distance ever in the GPSTC. I know you have had your eye on that goal for some time. I won't be challenging you for it!
