Peel Inlet, WA, AU mistral 95 speed koncept 5.8, 5.4 pepe 22

The wind lived up to its prediction for a change.

Had a fabulous time on the water with a whole lot of other sailors who were getting great speeds over the other side.

looking forward to more of this weather next week and improving even more.

Sensational sail at Liptons, Point Grey was like a mini Lake George today, super flat in 25 to 30 kts, lots of 40's and 39's on my GT31 display, and a top 5 5x10.  Gear was sensational today near new TRXI 5.9m, Near New Mast, Mistral Speed 95/55 ( my speed machine), near new boom, and a pepefoil 21/48.  Lots of happy faces, lots of 40's, greedily I want more days like today.

JP Speed 54cm, NP RSR E6 6.5m, Pepe weed 23cm,

Great day finally some decent wind My first proper powered up sail in almost a year.

Couldn't quite line up the gusts and dial in the gear today but a lot of fun none the less.

One scarey run where I tried following Doddi's line over on Pt Grey quickly discovered how shallow it was when I got 3 good looks around the front of the mast, didn't do that line again (although others did).

Lots aof happy faes out there.

Peel Inlet, WA, AU. Fabulous day, big roll up and lots of smiles on dials SmileSmileSmile.  Took 1/2 day leave for this and it was worth every minute. Should have had a go at a few alphas but I couldnt drag myself away from the Pt Grey speed strip. "just one more run" must have lasted for more than an hour !Laughing   CA47/SCR6.3

WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO that's better than I expected!!!!!

Lost the motion in a big stack, went the same way as sailquicks, striaght out of the holder. so if anybody's still using the original holder, Julien's mod would be a good idea. The last 2sec I saw was a 26.97, had a few runs that felt a bit faster, (including the stack). but I was just hoping for a 37, a 38 is rather nice.

Heaps there parking was right back up the road, so I checked out the top car park. Tide was way to shallow, would have been a long walk out. So found a spot in the turning circle and rigged the new 5.2 speed, plugged into the new 48cm board and the 20cm 40/60deg weedy. Taking hardie's advice I put an extra 3l of water into the camel pack bringing it up to 5kg, didn't notice the extra weight, we'll see how the shoulders are tomorrow when the voltaren has worn off.

Just checked my numbers that's a top 5, 5X10, well worth putting up with whatever my body deals to me tomorrow! And the fastest run was the run I crashed on, I was slowing down and straightening up, I think a gust caught me mid turn, I tail walked and spun out, hit the water at 30kts.

Peel Inlet, WA, AU  CA 92, SCR 5.8, TWS 22

First real go at speed sailing in quite a long time and at Last we got a strong sea breeze and yippee I nearly cracked the 40. Thanks to Stretch for the tuning advise. Thought I should try at least one alpha and got a 25 on my only attempt. All the usual suspects were there and new team mate Rocky was out on my 92 Patrik. Great sail and good to catch up with everyone, peskys included

I took a big serving of Elmo's Lumpy Goodness. I am now several centimetres shorter from the pounding. Out in the middle was serious lumps and as the arvo wore on, even the less lumpy bits got bumpy. Post more later.

I arrived at Nairns just after lunch to find Iain and Joe V packing up. They had already been out and had their fill and reaped the rewards for being the early birds by scoring the best water conditions of the day. Despite their combined Laurel and Hardy commentary while I was rigging up, I still managed to get most of the bits in the right order and proceeded to take Bruce for a quick guided tour to get him comfy.

It was a quick tour because the Ka6.6 and WT vintage raceboard where terrrifyingly over cooked. So back in for the little yellow peril. Back out. Then back in to rig the Ka5.8 because it was now super windy! I only rig the 5.8 once or twice a year, so there was a bit of fluffing around trying to get the cobwebs off and set properly.

Back out again. Bloody hell, even the smoothish bits were a chopfest by now! But at least I could sort of hold on. Time for some Lumpy goodness. Some bits of the estuary on the starboard tack were great fun - the big chop organised into decent waves that you could run down and top and bottom turn off. Other bits where just mogul hell and exhausting to just survival sail through. Oh well at least the conditions meant there were no Holiday Boaties out...except for the drunk lads on their Dad's boats who came terrifyingly close to running me over.

That scared me enough to retreat back to the northside of the Boat Channel and relative safety. I then tried some downhill runs but it was just too bumpy and exceptionally windy to even think about getting the power down and I had to wait for the lulls to work my way back down to base. I got there eventually and with with well cooked arms.

The most impressiuve work was done by nu-Fin, who only just makes double figures kegs when soaking wet, holding on to a KaR5.5 and not only getting within a spit of fastest, also punched a very impressive and impossibly good NM in chop. Great work Pas!!Laughing

Liptons JP54SP TR17 5.5 MXR24 weeed then FF 20

I had a great sail, fantastic to see so many people I have not seen for ages. I drove up from a family holiday in Margaret River for the day.

I must have been at a different spot drom those who went fast, Rob, Hardie and Elmo flying around on their local.

Huge congrats to Anita for the PBs, you looked really happy,

I was always comfortable and never powered on down wind runs. Crossing the channel was quite enjoyable, a bit of a work out on the knees as it was similar to moguls particularly at the notherrn end.

I went with the 24MXR weedy as it may have a higher top end spped than the FFF20. Not sure that is the case.

I had a bid crash when I sailed through water 12cm deep with the 24. It seemed to be in slow motion initially, I guess the fin dragged throught the sand for a while. I got up and the boom was floppy. Oh no, broken mast or boom? Neither, the inhaul rope had slipped slightly on the boom head. That is probably a very good thing dissipating some of the energy.

The forecast was for 26 knots, I do not thinnk I ever found a gust that strong but the numbers fromothers suggest otherwise. I needed a bigger sail. I think I need to reserve the 5.5 for 30 knots ish.

Anyway, it was really good fun, I am glad I made the journey.

it is interesting to me to contrast my tracks (above) with Swindy's (below) clearly I am doing something quite different maybe just wrong!
