sboardcrazy (24363km): Patchy 15-28kts early then consistent 20- 30kts WNW Belmont Bay Squids NSW, AU av 14.47 - 24.46 range 14.47 - 31.3kts WNW by Marks Point and it was getting in today. water level from 0.105m to 0.023 later 5m Mach2 - 70ltre Patrick - 16.5cm FF ( cutdown 22) then 5.7m gator - Windtech57 ( 90ltres) - 24cm stealth I got there early as all the other times I've been there it blows early and is all over by 11am -12pm. Just me and 2 kites I was in a crabby mood which wasn't helped by rigging the 5.5Mach on the 80 iso and FF and then having it kick in before I went out and having to rig the smaller kit.. Cold. I didn't enjoy the speed session as it was patchy and my arms soon gave out. One minute I'd be underpowered and using my arms then super powered and using them ready for emergency mode.. Only got 29.4kts with that. The water level was higher at 0.105m. Came in to have something to eat and decided to go out on the WT57. I knew it would be a bit big but also that it would be fun in the small chop. I rigged the 5.7m gator and walked up to the point. I got 2 runs and then it really came in. I hadn't tightened the front screw enough ( or maybe it needs a longer one) so the front of the fin was lifting and having a gap. I had the board upside down pushing the fin down and a gust ripped everything out of my hands and threw it 50m downwind.. Mmm.. I decided to go back and rig smaller. I tried a small run out into it but it was too dangerous so I walked it back. I was wondering where Mark was as it was now really good for speedsailing. I realised he'd rigged the 5.2m for Maree and they both went back out. The Jordans were really flying.. I considered speed sailing , the wind was much better plus the level lower and there were a few flatter areas..But decided to go back out with the WT. The speed gear was almost dry too.. At times I was really maxed out with that combo but I had a smile a mile wide and there were several yeehaas! ( which I haven't done for months). I got the 2sec on the WT with the freeride sail ( PB for that sail.. ). Squids PB for the WT57. I figured I wouldn't go much faster with the speed gear and I was having too much fun! Now Pugs , Mark & Maree out..a few kites for a while.. I was probably pushing it a bit with the big board and fin. I was scraping the bottom at times and stopped once but I was only going slowly upwind so it wasn't an issue. Boy that was fun! I got a 5 / 5 on the Garmin.I haven't had that since powered up sessions off Coal in a good NEr. It usually tells me that I've overdone it and I'm going to croak it if I get a rating that high.. Feels like it..time for painkillers..😁

Bostonfoil (17127km): Valentine, NSW, AU JPHF 135 F4 Slalom Foil long fuse/small wings SS5.8 5-15kts Caught the fag end of a pretty ferocious westerly late in the day. Not much left but the odd puff to 15kts by the time I hit the water. Broke a uni joint after going over the nose whilst looking at my watch. Fair to say I got what I deserved! Small wings felt slippery! Sailed till dark. | ||||||||||||||||||
Bruce Healey (24088km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AUnot a bad arvo. WSW, about 25 knots. Me, Mike, Matt and Pete. CASP 44, 5.5M, 16 fin.
