Early mission to Point Herron. It was looking good, loads of wind in Mandarah and leaves all over the road on the way down but only about 5 knts as the sun came up. Drove back along the western side of the estuary and there was no wind until I hit Cobblers.

There was reasonable power for the OD7 but it was very short and erratic chop so I thought l would see what Boombas was doing. Halfway there I dropped of the plan and chug until I could stand. A slow trip back until I clear Point Grey where there was wind again. The wide Patrik was better in the chop as it sat on top whereas the CA fell into every hole.

An interesting and enjoyable sail non the less.

2 sessions today, morning session was too late, tide came in too quickly, and some hell gusts caused us all problems.

None more than Waricle!!!

Arvo session was great, but I was underdone, wind had dropped off more than I realised.

Started with the same gear as yesterday, it was already rigged on the lawn, (gotta love Lilacs).

Tried the 48 with 18cm weedy, but too hard to get going with several lulls happening.

stuck the 19cm @ 55 in the cm board. That worked better, went for the NM but hit a big lull at the start, drifted too far into the weed and had a darggy underpowered run.

But plenty of flat water, so a very pleasant comfortable sail.

Lilacs Albany WA, AU  CA63 LRB 5.6 TWS 27 Then Mistral s95, LRB 5.0 ANW 20 Sunny, windy,  mid day high tide. Went out late morning and the rising tide had already made conditions lumpy. Decided to have a go at the NM run and ate it about 500 m in. Combination of some awkward chop and a huge gust (and lack of skill). It resulted in three torn panels on my 5.6 racing blade and a broken boom head. No injuries to me luckily. Sat on the gear and drifted in. Rondog was kind enough to drive me back to lilacs. Waited till the afternoon tide drop and had a pleasant second session.

Nice Rob, I had the same idea as you to head to Herron, and to buggy in to the flats to check offshore wind conditions but was turned off by sudden drop of wind as was heading out so abandonded that idea.  Looked an hr later and wind had booted but forecast was to drop and the 1 hr drive meant most likely a skunking (which it woulda been)..Boombas a maybe but in the end did nothing.  An early morning buggy trip probably been optimal..next time

Bugger Pete..I know that feeling! Main thing is that you didn't damage yourself and you went out again later. Man it looks super choppy.

Glad you didn’t get hurt, gear can be fixed easily. Was seriously challenging conditions with big gusts, even Rondog was too scared to come out😜😂
