Christchurch Estuary, NZ ..Brief sail before it really picked up, ..was still enough in the gusts though to feel fairly uncomfortable with my 4.7

Christchurch Estuary, NZ

5.3 evo, 2016 falcon 90, Mykz fatboy 23, wind 15-30

Good late session trying out a new spot on the estuary as they drained the lake literally days ago!!!

Was pretty dodgy but has potential when the wind is super east (80 degrees plus on  harbour meter) or even in a nw. mid to low tide.

Hi Miranda, I think the gusts were up to about 27-28 knots whilst I was sailing

..My light body weight becomes a problem (control wise) from about 25 knots of wind upwards - Not to mention I'm old and knackered into the bargain!

The way I figure it is, at the point I have to start really muscling my rig around to compensate for not enough body weight, my sailing accuracy seriously deteriorates into the bargain and I actually get slower - My GPS records seem to confirm this as well  - I reckon I'm quickest in winds up to 25 knots, any more and the law of diminishing returns seems to become quite prevalent and I actually get slower.

I certainly have the most funLaughing sailing wise in 15 - 25 knot winds
