7 hours ago 13-22kts S Buff Point Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU level - 0.27 - 32m
6.5m Turbo - CA95 - 20cms Atomic 2 runs
then 5.5m Mach 2 - CA95 - 16.5cms Pepe
Well that didn't start well.
I wasn't looking forward to ballistic wind so I was happy when it wasn't as strong as expected. Read 13-18kts on the shore with the meter. It must have kicked in when I took off.
I rigged the 6.5m but as soon as I left the shore I realised I had miles too much up for the gusts.. Worked up and had one run ( 27kts) and went for a very powered up gybe. Hit bottom, the gear stopped and I landed in the sail and smashed my hand on the gear on the way through..
A Sue sized hole in the sail..

Oh well now it has some ventilation maybe I won't be so overpowered on the run in.. Still got 27kts.
I've landed in them but never broken a sail before. It was well used but the clear window wasn't brittle.
Rather unenthused by now but I rerigged a 5.5m and put a smaller fin in the 95. I was going to use the 80ltre ( would have been good in the gusts ) but it was a bit patchy .
My right index finger was really sore and I wasn't sure I'd be able to sail. Thanks for the help rigging Greg.
I decided if I didn't enjoy it I'd come straight in.
I got the 2 sec on the 1st run so decided to just do runs. Just me then me and Mobsy who was going well.
Ended up on the bottom whenever I tried to gybe on the E side and muddy , weedy feet meant I wasn't game to try on the other.
The runs were fun although finishing up was scary as it looked so shallow. I'd get out of the straps and unhook and hope like hell I wouldn't hit bottom.
I wasn't getting upwind very well due to the small fin. I often jumped off and it was chin deep with knee deep mud..I walked it up into the shallows the 1st few times but the last time just flipped the sail and sailed up.
Seizing up now.. shoulders and hand aren't happy. Sail is in the sailmakers to get repaired.
Picked up for the pm crew.
My partner says I'm grounded for a month.. Should have learned my lesson at LG..
