LOCATION: AREA 45- TREADWELLS RUN

WIND:  WNW - +/- 15 KNOTS

TIDE:  OUTGOING TO SLACK TIDE THEN INCOMING

GEAR:  Excite Ride 135, 38cm Mean Fin, KA Koyote 6.6

SAILORS:  EJ, B3 and JAK

DETAILS:  Flew in from Sydney late last night but on the way home I couldnt help but notice the trees moving!.  Up early and down to Invy.  Stopped at Angling Club but it didn't look too promising so headed to Area 45.  Nice NW had built.  It was patchy in sections but had some strength to it.  The water was still murky from the recent rains on the Baw Baw plateau, and It made it difficult to find the edge of the sandbar...I think everyone found the shallow parts by feel!

Got some nice long planing runs altho' it was quite choppy due to the outgoing tide meeting the wind.  I modified my mast foot position and boom height and the board and rig was feeling really good.  Unfortunately the wind started to fade, and by 1.30..it was over.  There was a brief burst at about 2.30 but not worth getting wet for.

My first time at Treadwells Run in a NW at Area45 with Evan, Drift and B3. Wind inconsistent with gusts over 20 kts. Went out with 135L board first but it felt too nervous, quickly changed to 105L and was much better. A little chop and murky water making it hard to see the depths (or lack of it). Still had some reasonable runs, but chickened out to sail broad (no way to tell how much water was under the board). Also bloody cold, couldn't feel my feet until nearly home, must have been that icecold water from Baw Baw.
