Clifton Beach, QLD, AU ESE wind 15-18 knots Gear X Fire 114 V6 OD 4 8.6 CL SL 2 40

Great fun off the beach -warm & sunny .

Finally getitng this Combo sorted .

The fin is awesome -cant wait to try it in an extra 3-4 knots ...

The 8.6 definitely works better with a 460 .

Holloways Beach, QLD, AU

sailed with Billy and Tony either side of low tide.

Wind was a little stronger than expected ...good effort from Billy hanging onto his 7.5.

Good to see Hoppy Bob out at the beach.

Cam ...great numbers again!!

Holloways Beach, QLD, AU

Really struggled today. For once Livio may have gotten the forecast correct - not expecting a correct forecast I loaded up the Blue Bludger and it was only at the last minute that i decided to throw the Screamer in for the ride. Hit the beach expecting 15knts max which would have been a nice comfy ride - real life was 15-20 with what turned out to be the roughest low tide sail Ive had in a very long time. Started out on the Bludger for the first hour and really struggled to hold the old girl on the deck. Some rather punishing 20knt bolts really didnt help the situation, especially on a 7.5 magic mat. Came in, chucked on another 2cm of down haul, 1cm of outhaul and was thankful that I had included the Screamer.

Rough, it was rougher than Freddy's jokes about Tony the Trucky at the Blue Oyster Bar. Was really never comfortable or in control. Suffered some really huge spin outs with the 37.5 BPS and was on tender hooks for the rest of the session.

Good to catch up with Hoppy Bob, Tony and Freddy. Captn Kel arrived on the scene not long after we had all vacated the water and charged of toward the horizon like a man on a mission.

Port Douglas, QLD, AU Wind had dropped out buy the time i had rigged,Ian was off the plain and limping back to the beach..Me and andrew grovelled around for about  hr,and he went home and so did Ian..I new there was some wind out there some where, so i decidede to head out and find it..Was a couple of km out and picked up a late arvo sea breeze..Think it was the left overs from cairns..Sailed till dark on it just to do a few kms..Have had better sails..117 Isonic Duck 7.3m North rigg 46cm Venon fin...Have a little story about this fin i would like to share with you..Was down the beach the other day doing the family thing. One of the local kite surfers 'big Steve' came up and gave me a very scrappy and old looking fin that was weather beaten and covered in barnacles..He said he found it washed up on the beach.I threw it in the back of my ute and didn't think much of it..A couple of days later i had a close look at it and decided to give it a clean up..To my surprise i descovered that it has a very hot looking 46cm Venom fin,I gave it a good sand and a quick pollish and it looks brand new,has a small chip in the back edge which i don't think is a real problem..Used it today and when the wind finaly kicked in it felt very smooth and rock solid in the water, i liked it ,and i think it would  go great with a bigger rig..So if anyone  lost a 46cm Venom fin in the Pacific ocean about 6 months ago you can rest in peace as it now has a new home...Cheers Ed

Family weekend with a short session.

Nice light wind cruise. Need some time on the water to learn how to sail again and to get the sail tuned.

Very solid session Kel - any 30+ 5x10 in the ocean is impressive (well for me anyway Embarassed).  Nice Nm too.

Great team session all round - did get out but wind tapered off only affording me a slog.

Ed, probably Firie's fin - he was always putting them in without screws Wink

PS - found the ultimate (spectacular) speed strip on Fraser island.  Platypus Bay - wind offshore in a SE but could be quite gusty having to come over the top of the island.  Just have to dodge the whales and possibly some noahs.

Hey Snags, i think that fin is a bit big for our old mate Firie, any thing bigger than 30 cm he doesn't want to know about..It had' HAN' written on it not sure what it means...He always said i sail with way to much fin, thats why i dont go very fast..I just put it down to my poor sailing ability... Frazer Island looks good...Maybe send some of the Burrium Heads boys over to have ago..They should be fast enough to out run the average shark....

The fin story continues, have a listen to this...About 5 mounths ago a guy called Matt came to Port Douglas with his family for a holiday and a sail as he is a team sailor from down south. I think he is with the' Double Demerits Team' someone told him to get in touch with me to find out about local sailing conditions i had a couple of sails with him and told him to watch out for the reef at the southen end of beach if attempting speed runs at low tide...So Matt goes for a sail at low tide by him self keen to try out his brand new '46cm Venom' fin..Because the water gets stired up you can't see the reef he has a major wipe out a couple of hundred meters of shore..Matt looses his brand new fin and trashes a good board...He went for a dive the next day to try and find his fin but i told him i dont like his chances due to poor visibality..So Matt goes home with one less fin...5 mounths later it is washed up on the beach and found,Matt reads my story and now his fin is going home to a very happy owner......what are the chances??

The hospitality I received from the Port Douglas sailors was in keeping with what I have experienced from the windsurf community wherever I have been. Ed, thank you for not only helping my fin find its way back home, but for the help you gave me whilst sailing with you. It is awesome to see your after sail service is as good as your offshore advice. To anyone heading up that way, say hi to Ed. He's a good bloke. Cheers Matt.

If anyone finds some flat water or a 40knot peak and no one claims it, I'd love to have it Wink

Fangy, Chances are much higher if this was the Tassie Speedseekers page Wink
