Aside from GI in July, first decent sail since May.  Winter has been really lean wind wise in 2010.  Started out okay but wind gradually waned towards the end.  Finally got to 5000k's too.

Went offshore today looking for wind and had some very nice runs. Just love sailing downwind for hours-there is nothing betterWink

Got catapulted/had a few close calls hitting the shark nets. Thought they were below the surface?

Not game to really go flat out in the ocean especially with  a full on slalom board. Might have to get the old bic out of retirement!

Pierre- where were you!!

Wind was up and down like a whores drawers but I finally got my new 101 isonic on the water. Bad conditions but I'm quite happy with it after today. I'm surprised how it glides through the gybes so easily, after 4 weeks without sailing I never fell in. Had troubles with it railing up but I suspect thats because I had my old 7m sail bagged out as much as I could. Hope to get some better wind tomorrow.

Congrats on the 5,000 milestone Snags Cool

Phil I've never used the SL62 but I've got the SL58, it loves the ocean so I'd say go for it. I know Slowboat is Slowboat but he came 2nd (I think) in 2009 Ledge to Lancelin on a SL62.

Well done Sausage on the 5000 km- one more good sail and you might be infront of me!

Vando-Will try to give everyone some notice if I am going for a ocean sail. Try to time with low swell and around 20 knot gusts at the seaway but usually it is a last moment decision based on the wind as it can be very fluky this time of year.

Well worth the challege and dont like sailing that far out by myself either.

Going down wind makes it possible to have a good sail in marginal conditions so well worth the risk if your hanging out for a sail.
