Manly, QLD, AU

iS117, 7.8OD, 44 Z-fin

12-15ktS SE

First ever ride on my new 117.  Oh yeah baby!  Love this board, trims beautifully, gets up on the fin, glides across the chop, gets going in nothing.  Should have been on the 8.6OD but it looked windier from the carpark.  7.8 did the job though.  Also first ride with the full carbon Z-Fin 44.  Yep, i get it.  I now see why the pros ride these fins.  Feels like a mini formula fin, rail the board and drive the fin and off she goes.  Beautiful.  Very happy.  Great day.

Lake Weyba, QLD, AU. Bit dissapointed that the wind died early, was going for Big kms, was out just after 8am on Futura101/37/7.0 O/d, had 140 up by midday, wind dropped a lot so came in for lunch & pre-rigged Futura111/40 Drake/7.8 O/d, after an hr had to come back in for Isonic 117/44 Drake & sailed till I couldnt plane anymoreFrown

Macro, Cootharaba is better for distance normally, you can do 3-4Nm runs in a SE whereas at Weyba yesterday was lucky if I could get 1Nm, Gybes cost dist. Went to weyba yest because I saw the change moving up the coast & it hits Weyba before Cootharaba.

Been talking to Vando & Steve about big km days & we all agree its more in the mental toughness to keep ploughing away as you start to get tired & hands & feet get sore, you start questioning yourself is it worth the pain but if you dont keep pushing yourself you wont improve. Its the same with the other 5 categories, going flat out for 1hr is really hard work, alphas is a lot of practice & falling off, speed in 2sec/5x10/Nm have to accept high speed crashes which can hurt you badly & break gear. If it was to easy it would become boring to quick.
