6.6m Koncept - 87ltre isonic - 20 BP 50weedspeed
then 79ltre falcon
First speedsail since coming back from injury and the first time I've had the isonic powered up on a bearaway. Got 31.7kts on the isonic and then decided there was more than enough for the smaller board so trudged in and changed .I was getting very powered with the 6.6m and as I'm supposed to be going easy with the shoulder the plan was to take the small board out for a few overpowered runs then come in the change to the 6.2m OD for a more relaxed session playing with gybes etc.
Had my few runs which were a lot of fun, got 32.4kts and came in.. I used the OD yesterday and it rotated beautifully straight out of the bag. I had noticed wrinkles in the boom batten and had tightened that. Now it wouldn't rotate at all..I loosened the boom batten again , even took a spacer out , played with downhaul .. but after 3/4hr it would still only sit on starboard tack.. Umimpressed as it was going off out there..
Thanks to everyone who tried to help.
On a good note I needed a rest so I felt better by the time I went back out. It had picked up a fair bit but I rerigged the 6.6m and went out and hung on.
I couldn't do my usual fly upwind technique and the Bp let go a few times ( first time ever) but I put that down to being unfit and overpowered..
My cribb sheet I use to help rig the harnes lines has died so I sort of guessed the placement. When I got back in Mick pointed out my harnes lines were about 6" too far forward and the fin had a moustache.... mm that would explain a few things.. I'll have to get better at tuning and checking things ..
A lot of fun! Very overpowered at times going upwind and I didn't even try and gybe overpowered in the chop at the end but the gybes are starting to come back and I got some lovely planing ones in the flats..
Pulled up amazingly well today.. Hopefully we can get the 6m sorted today but I won't sell my old 6m OD till it is and I'll take it today.

Maree did well holding that 6.6m in those winds and got some great speeds!
