I didn't enjoy the first bit with the big kit. When the gusts hit I was worried about being thrown over the front so I was sailing very defensively. Got the 2sec then.
After an hr or so I decided to rig down to the freeride gator. It's actually a good combo for 5-23kts odd . It doesn't have the grunt of the cammed sails but it's easy to control and much lighter and I had some fun runs before it turned ballastic..
I was over the other side and managed to get in near the sailing club. Getting back was 'interesting".
I had trouble waterstarting as I was so overpowered and wasn't game to sail hooked in which meant the board was trying to fly off into the air... Then I spunout and sailed sideways for 500m before falling in. I finally got in amongst the boats and started to swim in but it mellowed enough to risk sailing the last little bit..
Well at least I was on the right side of the lake..
Tried to walk back down the shore but I was in a gusty lee and too much hassle so I just left the board on the shore and walked back to get the car.
It would have been ideal for a 4m or smaller sail on the 85ltre WT , there was decent size chop everywhere.. It seemed to only last about 30mins.
Sunny and nice to be on the water. I hadn't given it any thought but Gert said the water runoff from the rain had sewerage in it..ugh! I took in a few mouthfuls..
James, Tony , John ,and a few others at first then heaps of foilers ( before it hit) , wind thingies , Lyds made a short appearance and had a hell of a ride back to Belmont. Gert and lots of others later.
