60cm board, 6.2Koncept 20cm@55deg deltoid fin.

Arrived at Wamba St, with not much wind or water, but plenty of smooth. wasn't long befote Steve, Gloria and Basil arrived, we watched the wind slowly build and the tide creep in.

I was hoping to use the 23@40/60, but tide was still too low when I launched. Should havemdone it anyway, wasn't long before depth and thus chop increased. Just couldn't get totally comfortable like I was the other day.

May have been downhaul problem as my winch broke, and I could only downhaul by hand. Sail looked OK I thought, but More downhauly have been better.

Tabou Manta 71, NP RSR Evo-XV 7.4m, Elmo SS 42cm.

After two days of blessed respite, my old mate came back to party, spent most of the morning trying to sleep him off but to no avail.

Got down to the run which showed lots of promise but no enthusiasm from my perspective as I sat feeling sorry for myself in the shade.

Eventually I got of my freckle and rigged, the wind didn't look as if it had gotten stronger so went with the same kit as the last two days, which knowing Cheryl and Snides were ripping around on >6m sails on wave boards should realy have given my two brain cells the rough idea there was more wind out there than what it looked.

Went out, short jumpy run out to the channel markers to figure out that my new footstraps were not adjusted properly. Sail back, quick tweak then of through the lumpy goodness.

Sailed an +8km leg into Claudesville where there appeared to be quite a bit of breeze over there as the sail was getting to be a bit of a handfull and the board was getting a bit flighty in places.

The plan was to hang around over in Claudesville and enjoy the flats and try and bang out an hour, unfortunately the breeze was getting the better of me as my head had about 4.5mins delayed reactions to events and was feeling quite sketchy, so one short run in Claudsville had me heading back to base.

The run back was hard work.

In hindsight the 6.5m and 100L board would've been a better choice, but realistically doubt I would've been much better.

Another SE which looked like it was going to switch to the E but that was a trap. As soon as Maree & I went back out it went back to the SE.

Ran my Motion flat so just waiting for it to charge before I post. I am not expecting anything worthy as I struggled with my new toy. FF20 truncated.  This fin is one of the trapezoid series of prototypes. Super fine, super gutless, and super unhappy in off design conditions.
First job is to rework the fillet, as this iteration is horrible. If I do get to behave reasonably, it will be a slick bit of kit downhill,... it's just the other directions that need attention.  Tongue out

Yes Nauli, Barry is starting to flower while I'm starting to fade.

82 year ole overall rankings.

Barry has set the bar nice and high, we'll have to wait 2 to 3 years to see if I can get over it!

It's nice you think that Steve, but I'm rapidly loosing energy now, just can't do distance anymore, hours are becoming a bigger problem as well

Yesterday I only did 25km and was completly buggered. 10 years ago I did almost 10 times that.

Over 71 distance.

And I did fairly well overall.

with Waricle a very close 2nd.

Speed sailing is a full body workout that requires a lot of energy some were north of 400 calories per hour. For a meaningful comparison, hour for hour, it is probably equivalent to cross-fit or a solid pace swimming. No matter how you slice it the speed sailing and holding your own by the mature cohort is bloody impressive.

Nauli, I'm not complaining, this is life and I'm still enjoying it. just stating facts, so you guys don't expect too much from me.

Rob, thanks mate, I'm really relising that now. I used to think sailing was effortless, the wind did all the work, and started at the gym to get the extra exercise I needed. Don't need the "extra" exercise now. I need recovery time.

I have always needed recovery time.
