Distance attempt at Fangys, but a big fail, broke the winch again.

At first that didn't matter, wind was light was rigging the 6.2 koncept for the 60cm board and 20cm deltoid.

The koncept doesn't need huge downhaul and I can get that without a winch.

So first session started at 11:20 wind up and down some nice gusts, but several holes. Wind filled in midday constantly planning after that.

Half hour later, it was starting to get less comfortable so went in for lunch and change down.

I knew I would ne't get enough down haull on the 5.7 speed, so tried as much down haul as Steve could get without winch. this looked doable so went with it. But at the end of the first run, I couldn't rotate the sail without laying it down on the water and pushing the battens over.

I deemed this unsustainable so called it a day.

Really need to fix that winch properly!!!!!!

gusty, more laters

Wind was Southerly and pretty gusty conditions, was great to catch up with a big crew. Tim I think the boys had fun trying to loosen your pole 🤣

Wouldn't be dead for quids, life's pretty good. I knew I wasn't going to get any great speeds today but for me catching up with so many sailors, having a laugh, some shit stiring and drink after makes it a top day. I am happy with my mile down through the channel, I tried my best for a decient 2sec, honestly runs felt a lot faster but I'm happy.

Sorry to hear of Petes injury, best wishes mate.

More time typing this than spent on the water.

Got to Liptons after lunch, waited +20mins for one of the many f'ken tourists to f**k off so i could park the trailer then waited another 5 mins after they got back to their camper van whilst they uploaded their photos to farcebook or whatever.

Had a chat with a few peoples, unispired by the gusty conditions, rigged anyway, eventualy went out, ate shit like a gumby trying to get my back foot in, another water start got going, successfully got my backfoot in, sailed like a gumby, to the channel, hit the channel, cavitated the fin, testing my core strength for 423m trying to recover it (the joys of GPS telling you how bad you were), actually stopped and fell in to check that I still had a fin (I did) got going again, sailed over to Pt Grey, woo hoo flat water, sent it, f**k all wind.

Turned around, said to myself, time to go back, wating for some wind to appear, went back, picked up the gear walked it back to the rigging area.

Back on shore had much fun with Tim, Slugga, Doddi amd Mike trying to seperate Tims mast, which appeared to have been lubricated with araldite. Thanks guys I had much more fun there, Doddi, you are one sick puppy. Tim hopefully you can get them apart back home.

Gotta love retirement, not being desperate for a sail and being able to flag a shite session.

As a side note, everyone else seemed to be going ok and having fun, could it possibly have been my fault (most likely).

Oh well too appreciate the good days you've got to have an occasional reminder of a bad day.
