That was hard work but today I achieved another first. Managed to get my front entry wetsuit on backwards, with the kneepads facing forwards. When trying to bring the neck flap over my head I could not find it. Only when I could not find the front zip did the penny drop. This absorbed much of my energy for the day so I hit the water feeling a little flat as well as more than a little foolish.
I nominate Bully boy Fat Basil for Doofus of the season. Your support for me in this prestigious award would be very much appreciated.
Oh yes . The sailiing . Bloody hard work for me in conditions that were less than ideal.

Two sessions today, started Novara early(ish) with the idea of going for a grind and seeing what distance I could do.
Decent wind whilst rigging, dissappeared by the time I got out to the launch spot, eventually got going..underpowered, eventually some breeze came in, managed to tack up wind, kept hitting holes and falling in. Eventually some more solid breeze came in so got upwind quite well still hitting holes.
Got a well powered run out past the platform and one past the chanel, each time the run was finnished when the wind disappeared and fell in backwards.
Back to base and packed up.
During this session could see the peoples out on Pt Grey getting some good sends so went to have a look.
Got there to see Hardz there chatted for a bit and eventually rigged up, spent it over on Pt Grey up near the Pt, (everyone else was down the end), got a few nice runs but aagin lots of holes.
Eventually had enough so back to base to pack up.
Some fun but mostly a meh day

11 hours ago 1 categories Point Grey, the highlight was catching up with everyone, and one speed run. The rest was a tale of woe. Nude Streaker 54cm wide, 80 litres, TR18 5.5m pepefoil 21/45.
Firstly I deluded myself. I thought given the strong wind and my past experience a 40kt run was on the cards. You cant just produce a 40kt run, particularly when you've got zero fitness, with one windsurf in 3 months. When all you've done is soft winging, When you've been in and out of hospital for a month with zero capacity for water sports. It was totally delusional. After one run at point grey my fastest run, I was done, totally gassed and exhausted. Tried one more run which left me depleted knowing I had to reserve every bit of energy and stamina to get back to the carpark. So I begin the treachous run home, reaching the channel crossing which always seems to coincide with the strongest wind of the day, I was tentaive and coping with being bounced around, and then I noticed one of those large 10 to 12mt speed boats with a triple outboard speeding in the channel and about to traverse in front of me, and I thought this is not going to end well. By the time I got to the boats wake, the water state became this messy criss cross chop almost looking like a checker-board of chop, and one bit of chop, lifted me a metre into the air and i had a massive stack. Of course the clew sank deep, and everytime I manage to get the clew out of the water, another large piece of chop would catch it and submerge it. After 10/15 mins of this I was totally depleted I gave up and lay on the board eventually drifting to water I could stand. Did I mention I have a very sore achilles tendon strain/? Well try walking in sinking mud for a kilometer with a very sore achilles. By the time I got to shore, I was selling all my windsurfing gear and retiring from the sport. I've calmed down a bit now and taken my own advice of never make a big decision or action when you are in a highly emotional state.

Lots of sailors, not everybody went to Pt Grey. a contingent from Cervantees helped to swell the numbers.
Good wind blowing but water level a bit high, went with the 5.7 speed, 55cm board and 17cm@55 deltoid
The deltoid was good for the shallow weedy water, but there wasn't much flat, I may have been better of with the 23@40/60, and stayed out a bit.
Wind gradually picked up until my last run, when I had my fastes speed, not really in control because a bit more chop than I'm happy with.

Speeds don't show it but I had a great slap, pulled the pin when it was getting too hard to hang onto the boom on the run. Gear felt perfect, felt like I was flying but sadly not as fast as it felt. Great catching up with everyone, I was one of the first to bail but 2nd last to leave, who would have thought
