Quick Trip Home at lunch time-forecast looked promising ...

Serious wind off the beach .20-25knots 2m swell Breaking waves.Smallest Rig at home was EXO120l warp 7.2RSS 42cm production fin .

Ridiculously uncomfortable.Lots of tail lift/wobbles/horrible crashes...

At one stage made my way up wind  south of double Is & sailed off the wind betweeen the point swell -finished with a 31.94 on the dial which is the fastest I've been on this board.

Waiting to see what the other team members have done ...

HSD 3Mtr, 6.9 Hotsail, Clifford Alloy Speed Weedy. Massive gusts coming out of the gorges. Mostly overpowered as I  just can't get any downhaul on the Hot 6.9. Happy with the results considering the time spent in the water.

Lyn still getting over the flu so I was allowed to use her 105l Screamer with my SL7 and 6.6 02.    Tinaroo wind was extremely gusty and the chop was pretty big.    Had some big crashes attempting jibes.   Once while trying to waterstart the wind ripped sail and board from me and hurled it about 10 meters down wind.     Guessing I was a bit overpowered I came in for lunch and to change down to 5.9m.                             I had just rigged the smaller sail and the wind died so decided to give it away.   Great fun....LG Lifes GoodCool

Got to Kurrimine mid morn and blowing 20 - 25kts. Rigged a 5.5 Ezzy Freeexpression and dusted off the old Saxo 270 with new 34 Techno fin. No grip left on the deck made it hell. Could only race up and down the beach just out from the shore break. When it was going it liked the rough conditions. Didn't take long and I was stuffed. Swapped to the Fanatic Cross with new Select 30 fin and then wind eased back. Too knackered to rig larger sail.

Nice numbers there Cam, still beats working. Good to see Peter and Herb getting into it as well.

Went hunting for some flat water today, sailed from the inlet down to yorkeys checking out the creeks and sand bars,

didnt find any but  had a great sail off the wind in 20 to 25kts. First time overpowered for a long time.

Iso 96 Vmg 6.0 and venom 30.

So happy to be finially on the water, what a crap year. Had a great sail, wind was very gusty and water was rough as hell, kept going from powered right up, to off the plane. Disapointed with Nm, felt like nearly 30 but I guess that's because it was very rough, anyway eye balls like dinner plates which makes it fun Smile

Big effort Cam, there was no way I could have sailed my 6.8 in those gusts especially with a 42 fin, you're a mad bastard WinkCool

Great to see a big team effort Cool Congrats to Eddy for his PB's Cool

Cam,

That is some serious speed on the big gear - congrats.  You seem to be regularly pushing the upper limit in those conditions.  Got a quick 6am sail in this morning but wind wasn't quite there.

PS  Don't you love it when the fin starts to tail walk the board - It never ends nice.

Well done Peter-good to see you posting -looking to sell my Exo 103 so let me know if interested??!!Its done 36knots-great board for up here .

6am Sausage-Wow dont think I've ever been on the water that early .Tail wobbles are ugly -always worry about snapping the ankles way out off shore when that happens .After 1 hr in those conditions I was exhausted-amazing work out .Came off in some breaking waves ~50m from shore -was ugly & very lucky not to destroy the Rig .Have you Tried Coorooman Creek Mouth yet ??

Cam,

Had a scout of Corio Bay (north of Yeppoon) a couple weeks back but it needs a massive flush out from sand build-up (we haven't had any rain for some time now). Corio has alot of potential and I am dying for an opportunity to sail it.  Coorooman Creek is probably out of reach for me at present as it's probably an hour run each way with packing up gear, getting down to Keppel Sands etc and I'm limited to only a couple of hours max sailing time most weekends (kids are still young).  Crocs are also a much bigger issue with Coorooman as well.

PS -Big rigs and shore breaks don't mix.  The hardest part of sailing off the beach is trying not to bust something launching or landing especially.  Anyone who says we don't get surf up here needs to see it in a decent blow.

Sorry Cam, wife has banned any more money spent on windsurfing until the boat is sold. Sausage my boat is down your way at Gladstone now. On the way anchored at Port Clinton, north of Corio Bay and that place looked fantastic in a Northerly, with wind pressured between the islands and blasting out onto flat water, but hard to get to. Nearly rigged up there late in the arvo, but had nothing left in the tank.
