Trojan (8179km): Mackay, QLD, AU Great fun bump and jump session, given the size of the chop it was never going to be a speed day. Heaps of little 3 foot wave faces to play on...was a real hoot and good to ignorethe GPS for a change. Shame I was the only one out. Perfect gear selection for the conditions Fanatic FSW 113, Ezzy Lion 6.5, BP 35cm fin. Suprisingly knee friendly, despite all the jumps. Gusty 17 to 25kNts. Hopefully get in another session tomorrow to round out a perfect weekend.
Ian (2269km): Lake Tinaroo, QLD, AU
Billy (10637km): Lake Tinaroo, QLD, AU That turned out to be a cracking day on the mountain. Met up with Doc Bally and Jimmy Drinnen mid morning before they scurried away for a Tennis Championship and then had the pleasure of entertaining B2 from midday onwards, although, the breeze did most of the entertaining. Yep, it was quite cool. Yep, it was drizzly at times. Yep, the breeze was swinging around like mad at times, but that's Tinaroo. B2 had the new arrival swearing in ceremony....we sat around swearing for 40 mins waiting for the breeze to come back, and back she did. For 2 solid hours it just rock n rolled - sensational arvo. Even that big glowing orb in the sky made a brief appearance, and the blue stuff that generally comes with it . Great to catch up with Herby H earlier in the day, the mountain men and B2 - wouldnt have wanted to be anywhere else. Used: 140 AHD Free Diamond "The Tank", 47 SRide, 8.6 Loft RB (Circa 2012)
Richo (11222km): Boyne Island, QLD, AU 110 Falcon, 7M Koncept, 34 Rockit Nice cruisey afternoon in a fading breeze. Called it quits when the blisters on my hand broke. Need more time on the water.
Benny McCarthy (14648km): Lake Tinaroo, QLD, AU Great bit of arvo fun had on the dam! The mountain men, Ian & James did the morning shift, I did the late one & B1 did both! Sensational to see the dam so full... Wind on arrival around 1230 looked great- B1 was zipping around with a smile from ear to ear. Then I rigged up, and uh oh, the wind went from hero to zero... Waited around for about 1/2 an hour praying, then the wind gods blessed us with a couple of hours of really nice wind patches (which I must say is very typical at Tinaroo)... Great vibe today- the sailing club lasers were out racing, a one man catamaran with foils was blasting some super downwinders and there were even horses (with riders) cantering around in the shallow edges. Oh soooooo close to cracking my first 30 at the dam today... I reckon they should award jelly babies for daily performances As Ed would say- "I guess it was worth rigging up for" Used "Big Woody" Futura 124, Severne OD 8.6, Venom 48 "Long May our Big Jibs Draw!" Ps. Really need to keep working on my jibes!! |
