iS101, 7.8 / 7.0 Blade, 40 Talon / 37 KA Sl - Lammermoor Beach, QLD, AU Wind NNE 20 - 30kn

Completely misread the wind and rigged the 7.8.  First two runs were way over powered so really cranked the downhaul / outhaul but by this stage it was an easy 25knots so decided to come in and rig the 7.0.  By the time I got back down to the water the wind had really picked up and was now in the high 20's.  Had a couple okay runs but still overpowered so cranked the sail again.  Next run absolutely hooting but ended up tripping the rail (on port tack this time) and really did a number on my left shoulder (did right shoulder last week).  Shit those carbon booms are hard.  Got back to the beach and decided to rig the 6.3 but by the time I got the gear up to the front yard my shoulder had started to stiffen up and the thunder storms had started their afternoon grumblings, so it was disappointing I didn't get a chance to use all 3 Blades in one session.

PS - Would have loved to have used my iS97 but it finally turned up on Friday with a lovely big hole in the deck that resembled the fork of a fork lift. Yell

What a shame about your new board, bloody hard to make a claim against couriers and get a result.

Thanks too for passing on Switchblade tips, rigged fine today no problems.

Darryl,

Thank Kel for those SBlade tips.

PS - I had nothing to do with the delivery of board.  All I did was buy a new board which included delivery.

Nice one snags, pity about the shoulder. Do you have any good spots for these northerlies? I've got a week off now so looking for ideas to get away....just seems there's nowhere to go with this forecast. Maybe Bowen mid week I'm guessing.

Ha, my shoulder looks like Bender's bruised arse if anyone can remember that SB thread (how can you forget).Wink

Phil, If I could predict with some certainty that we'll get good seabreezes for the rest of the week I'd say go to Great Keppel Island.  The spit at the end of the main beach used to be great in a North Easter but I unfortunately haven't sailed it for a very long time.  Some of the other Yeppoon sailors have sailed it more recently and love it (pretty flat).  Yeppoon itself is just to confused in a NE and not very pleasant to sail.
