Attempted sailing out of the marina on a polyester board I built 20 years ago. The anti-slip was non existant, fell off with every attempted tack and lost the ground I'd made trying to go to windward. In the end launched off the rocks on the other side of the marina. Of course  by this time the big gusts had mostly gone and I did my best 2 sec on the first run. Had good fun for a while but realised getting back to the marina against the out going tide wasn't going to be much fun, so opted for the walk of shame up the esplanade. EmbarassedCairns, QLD, AU

Green Island, QLD, AU JP 59 91l RSS Mk4 7.0 Talon 36 Wind SE at 18-22 knots .

Epic forecast was sadly downgraded overnight but still good fun .

First session on the New 2nd hand JP 59 (thanks Rick Murray-board arrived in perfect condition & looks brand spanking new...)

Couldnt get any speed today -wind was holey /seas were all over the place & the angles were all wrong for Arlington so a little frustrated by these factors. The Talon was letting go today -strange as it works really well on the RRD 90 -upwind/across the wind /off the wind randomly letting go with big sideways slides AHHRRRrrr.(did a lot of cursing )

Was hoping for so much more but no complaints-after the initial downpour we had blue skies & a stunning backdrop for 6 hrs or so.

Happy new year fellow competitors!!!

Herby went down to dam before lunch and got a good session, but by the time I got there with his lunch the wind had gone patchy.    Used the 6.6m Koyote and my 105l Screamer.    lucky to have several coastal members of the mob up at the dam today.     Good to catch up with Billy, HoppyBob, FastFreddie and Rowdy.

Happy New Year to all!!!!

Went to dam about 10am and had a couple of good sessions, neither of which lasted for long.     After lunch I rigged for Lyn and we both prepared to go out, only to find that her GT-31 had frozen again. (Fortuneately the light stayed on, so it will go flat quicker)......plenty of sailors and every tye of watercraft imaginable .   A good day was had by all....I used my 7m NP Package Tape that refuses to die.

Happy New year to all !!!

The year really couldnt have ended better for a sailor in FNQ could it - well at least from my perspective. TOW is all it takes and slowly but surely the old body begins to remember what it used to be able to do 20 years ago. YellFrownSmileLaughing. Took the time out to visit the The Tinaroo Mob today along with Freddy, Hoppy and Rowdy. After a cracking session the previous day, we had high hopes. It would appear (as usual) that the time spent getting up there in the morning was when all the fun was been had, with a lot of the big speeds for the day already being taken. Hoppy rigged his big gear for us to try and monopolise what was left.

In bewteen just bobbin around, a few nice gusts, lasting no more than a few minutes at a time, were ripped into with gusto. Rowdy shot past on the SS Plank a number of times with a rather grin on his face.

All in all a great day. Great company topped of a somewhat lack luster day on the water. Heres wishing all you mob a Happy New Year and wishing everyone the very best for 2012.

126 Screamer, 7.5 Areotech - courtesy of Hobby Bob - a big thankyou.

Lake Tinaroo, QLD, AU

Went to Tinaroo not knowing what to expect with the weather the way it's been.  Arrived there and it was blowin a gail

and young Herby was out in the thick of it ........did not last long and was back to the nom with a gust here and there

to keep all interested.   Not the best day for the out going year but was good enough to have a gas bag here and a sail there

with enough laughter to fill in the day. As you can see from the other postings at Tinaroo was a good turn out including....

but not limited to and in no particular order...Billy, Hoppy Bob, Lyn ,Hans 'The Flying Dutchman', Rowdy and The Legend..Herby.

Hoping 2012 is all you could wish for.

NP RS Slalom 8.4, Isonic 131, Select 47. @ Lake Tinaroo. Great day catching up with everyone right at the end of the year and to get a sail was a bonus. Aircraft Carrier was awesome as i am getting used to handling it at pace. Im sure there is alot more speed in it that i will have to get fit to get the best from it.
